Title: Rainwater pollution on building and elimination method
Authors: HU Yonghua, JIANG Hua, WU Jinzhe
PP: 168-170
Abstract: This paper researches the reasons and elimination method of rainwater pollution on buildings from technical and artificial view points. The rainwater pollution on large roof eaves, exposed window, balcony, and other protruding parts is because that these parts have deposition surfaces. Pollution of parapet walls and billboards is mainly because that the rain erodes the steel, and washes the rust to the wall surfaces. The design, construction, materials supply, management and other factors also play a role. Aiming to the above reasons, various measures are taken to control the pollution, and beautification effects are achieved.

Title: Mode-superposition solution of coupled vibration between vehicle and bridge
Authors: YANG Yuemin
PP: 155-160
Abstract: The time-varying problem of coupled vibration between vehicle and bridge is analyzed in detail. In the setting up of the vibration equations, geometrical coordinates are adopted for the vehicles. To the bridge structure, it is well known that its vibration is mainly demonstrated by its lower basic vibration modes. If the vibration is presented by its lower basic modes, or the characteristic coordinates in mathematics, and on which the vibration equations of the bridge and the vehicles are set up, then the equations can be greatly simplified by largely reducing the degrees of the freedom, and the iteration between can be avoided. At the same time, a good accuracy can be obtained. That is the objective this paper to achieve.

Abstract: This paper is about the study of the common reinforced concrete simple beam. The experiment uses static loading test to simulate simple beam damage accumulative process, collects simple beam's free vibration signal from the shock load experiment, and analyzes the change mechanisms of damping parameters. The paper demonstrates the existing theory according to the experiment results and proposes a new theory of damage identification based on the damping characteristic. The investigation provides valuable references for the fast and non-destructive identification of reinforced concrete simple beams.

Title: Discussion on the mechanical characteristics of three kinds of steel plate-concrete composite shear walls
Authors: ZHU Limeng, XIAO Hongmei, ZHOU Deyuan
PP: 142-148
Abstract: This paper wrote three kinds of steel plate-concrete composite walls that were concrete-steel-concrete composite shear walls (CSC walls), concrete-steel composite shear walls (CS walls) and concrete-steel-concrete composite shear walls (SCS walls) which were classified according to the relative position of steel plate and concrete. On the basis of the present research finished in this field, a comparative analysis of their respective mechanical characteristics was made. Concrete-steel-concrete composite shear walls and concrete-steel composite shear walls make good use of the stiffness out of plane of the concrete plate avoiding buckling of steel plate, but fail to use the stiffness in plane and capability of the concrete plate resulting in load increasing. Concrete-steel-concrete composite shear walls can fully utilize the properties of these two materials because the concrete bond by the steel plate is in triaxial compression and can protect the steel plate from buckling too quickly.

Authors: CHEN Jianfei, XIA Junwu
PP: 137-141
Abstract: To eliminate the damage to secure operation of high voltage (HV) transmission line which is caused by exploitation of coal mine, the general features of coal goaf ground deformation, the impact of coal mining on HV transmission towers, the analysis of the reinforcement and rectification scheme of tower footing and body when ground deformation happens in goaf, the comparison of two kinds of schemes of reinforcement and rectification of coal goaf transmission tower, and the governance programs used at home and abroad are studied in depth. A tentative idea of a kind of technology to reinforce and real-timely rectify the transmission towers erected above the goaf is put forward. By using the principle of communicating vessels, real-time deviation-correcting technology will connect the tower footings as a whole, and timely eliminate or reduce the influence of uneven subsidence on tower. And an integrated program of reinforcement and real-time rectification of HV transmission towers is recommended to reduce the cost of reinforcement and rectification of transmission tower further, and safeguard the safety of transmission tower better and more timely.

Title: Study on large strain consolidation settlement of soft clay layer induced by variations of water level and construction loads
Authors: HUANG Dazhong, XIE Kanghe, TAO Liwei, WANG Yulin
PP: 113-119
Abstract: Based on the general theory for 1-D large strain consolidation of saturated soft clay, analytical solution was obtained when groundwater level variations and construction loads occured at the boundary. The large strain consolidation behavior of soft clay was carefully calculated and analyzed through a practical example. The differences from the small strain consolidation behavior were presented in detail. It was believed that the dual effects of construction loads and groundwater level variation couldn't be simulated by traditional linear superposition. It was more reasonable to use the solution in the paper.

Title: Surface water evaluation and main contaminants analysis in Xinyang
Authors: DONG Jieying, CHEN Qihui
PP: 94-100
Abstract: This paper aims at evaluating the surface water and analyzing the main contamination in Xinyang. Based on the remote sensing image in 2005 and surface water quality dataset from 2001 to 2007, the evaluation and analysis was made by using ArcGIS, soil and water assessment tool (SWAT) model and other methods such as comprehensive index method and equivalent pollution analysis method. The results showed that the comprehensive pollution index decreased first and then increased by comparatively big change rates from 2001 to 2007. The main indexes exceeding standards were NH3-N, BOD5 and TP. Point source pollution was alleviated during the five years while paper, fertilizer industries were the major polluting industries. N, P loss from farmland fertilizer is becoming the main reason for water pollution. Surface water of Pipashan, Pingqiao sites was seriously polluted by point source contaminants; Changtaiguan, Nanwan, Shishankou sites were only affected by non-point source pollution, whose water quality was comparatively good; Minggang and Xixian sites were affected synthetically by point and non-point source pollution. The surface water there had reached heavily polluted degree.
