Title: Empirical research on the relationship between China’s energy consumption and economic growth based on VAR model
Authors: LI Yingcheng,CHEN Jianbo
PP: 1266~1271
Abstract: We establish a vector autoregression (VAR) model based on China’s data of energy consumption and economic growth from 1978 to 2008 and use the method of cointegration analysis, impulse response functions and variance decomposition analysis to study the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth. The results show that the short-term fluctuations in economic growth is mainly due to its own fluctuations, and fluctuations in energy consumption also depends on its own fluctuations, but in the long run, the influence of real GDP growth on energy consumption is greater than the opposite.

Authors: GUAN Wei, FU Min, PENG Yajuan
PP: 1244~1248
Abstract: Activated carbon from sewage sludge was prepared from residual sewage sludge of sewage treatment plant by ZnCl2/CuCl2 activation method. The optimum preparation conditions were activation temperature 500℃, activation time 60 min, ZnCl2 concentration 3 mol/L, and CuCl2 concentration 0.3 mol/L. The iodine adsorption value of the sludge activated carbon under the optimum condition was 534 mg/g. The activated carbon sewage sludge was also used to treat pharmaceutical waster water. The absorbing capability of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total organic carbon (TOC) was studied. The adsorption data were fitted by Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. According to the Freundlich adsorption isotherm and the Freundlich adsorption model of fractal, the carbon sewage sludge fractal dimension in absorption of COD and TOC were respectively obtained as 2.710 6 and 2.836 6, which proved that the activated carbon from sewage sludge had fractal characteristics.

Title: Effects of TCE-PCE combined pollution on soybean seedlings’ antioxidation characteristics
Authors: HUANG Yuanyuan, SHAN Aiqin
PP: 1228~1233
Abstract: In this study, the stimulation experiments were conducted to study the effects of the trichloroethylene (TCE), perchloroethylene (PCE) single pollution and TCE-PCE combined pollution on a series of biological indexes of soybean seedlings. The results showed that TCE, PCE single pollution led to O2-·and proline accumulation. The contents of proline accumulated significantly when concentrations of TCE, PCE reached 2.00, 0.30 mg/kg separately. The contents of O2-·increased significantly when concentrations of TCE, PCE reached 20.00, 30.00 mg/kg separately. Lower concentrations of TCE (≤2.00 mg/kg), PCE (≤0.30 mg/kg) induced superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities of seedlings to increase. Then the SOD and CAT activities of seedlings decreased or even inhibited with the increase of stress concentrations. The contents of O2-·and proline caused by TCE-PCE combined pollution was higher than that caused by TCE, PCE single pollution. Higher concentrations of TCE-PCE combined pollution on accumulation of O2-·and proline showed obvious synergistic effects. Lower concentrations of TCE-PCE combined pollution on SOD and CAT activities showed synergistic effects, while higher concentrations of combined pollution on SOD activities showed synergistic effects and the increase of CAT activities showed antagonistic effects.

Title: Study on ecological security evaluation of industry-based town: taking Mayong town, Dongguan as an example
Authors: GAO Xueyan, NING Xun’an
PP: 1221~1227
Abstract: In this paper, an eco-security evaluation index system of industry-based town was constructed by using pressure-state-response (P-S-R) model. The comprehensive index r of eco-security in Mayong town from 1998 to 2008 were calculated by adopting comprehensive evaluation model based on transfer of extreme values, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy weight method, then the results and reasons were analyzed. It indicated an high-speed upgrade trend of the eco-security level of Mayong town in the 11 years. However, there were a mismatch within every single index and a great difference in comparing the increase speeds of all indexes of subsystems, besides, the amplitude of r was oversize in the short term, which might lead to unstable security conditions. On this basis, the countermeasures of sustainable development were put forward.
