Abstract:Ferroelectric Sr0.6Ba0.4Nb2O6 (SBN) films were fabricated on various substrates such as Si, Pt-coated Si, and MgO by pulsed laser deposition. The effect of deposition condition, substrate, (La0.5Sr0.5)CoO3 buffer layer on the structure and morphology of SBN films were investigated systematically by x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The optimal processing has been obtained. The transverse electro-optic properties of SBN on MgO and fused quartz were also evaluated. The larger effective EO coefficient was observed on fused quartz. The possible explanation has been proposed.

Abstract:euroanatomical studies have revealed a direct hypothalamocerebellar histaminergic pathway, and our previous works have demonstrated an excitatory effect of histamine on granule and Purkinje cells of the cerebellar cortex. In this study, we further investigated the effect of histamine on the neuronal firing of cerebellar interpositus nucleus (IN) by using the cerebellar slice preparations. Eighty-seven IN cells were recorded from 38 slices. The vast majority of the cells responded to histamine stimulation with an excitatory response (79/87, 90.8%), and the rest of them showed no reaction (8/87, 9.2%). The histamine-induced excitation was not blocked by application of low-Ca2+/high-Mg2+ medium (n=8), supporting a direct postsynaptic action of histamine. The histamine H2 receptor antagonist ranitidine effectively blocked the excitatory response of IN cells to histamine (n=23), but the histamine H1 receptor antagonist triprolidine could not significantly block the histamine-induced excit

Abstract:astric vagal and cerebellar fastigial nuclear afferents have been implicated in the regulation of food intake by their communication with lateral hypothalamic area (LHA), which is generally referred to be the feeding center. This study was designed to examine the possible convergence of the inputs from the gastric vagal trunks and cerebellar fastigial nucleus (FN) on the LHA neurons. Among recorded 191 LHA neurons, 99 (51.8%) responded to the stimulation of the gastric vagal trunks, of which 55 (55.6%) also responded to the cerebellar FN stimulation. Of 62 LHA neurons that responded to the gastric vagal stimulation, 43 (69.4%) showed an inhibitory response to the intravenous glucose application indicating they were glycemia-sensitive neurons. When the gastric vagal trunks and cerebellar FN were stimulated simultaneously, a summation of the responses usually could be seen in the recorded LHA neurons (16/20, 80%). Moreover, of 45 LHA neurons that responded to both of the gastric vagal t

Abstract:Several kinds of azo-dye polymer films of the guest-host system were prepared by spin-coating method. Disperse red 1 (DR1), Disperse orange 25 (DO25), DR54 and Dispersed yellow 7(DY7) were chosen as second order nonlinear optical active chromphores with polymer matrix such as poly (methyl methacrylate) PMMA or polycarbonate (PC). The processing condition such as heat-treatment, chromphore concentration, absorptions and structural formula of different dispersed dye on all-optical poling characteristics of azopolymers has been investigated extensively. It is found that the second harmonic generation intensity is very sensitive to the processing parameters. Some explanations have been proposed.

Abstract:Ultrathin La2O3 gate dielectric films were prepared on Si substrate using La(tmhd)3 source by low-pressure metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The growth processing, interfacial structure and electrical properties have been investigated by various techniques. The ultrathin films deposited at 600℃ show amorphous structure with smaller roughness of ~0.2nm and larger bandgap of Eg=6.18eV. This is attributed to the interfacial layer existence of compositionally graded La-Si-O silicate. Due to the chemical instability of La2O3 films in ambient, it can absorb vapor and carbon dioxide, which leads to the deterioration of electrical properties. By introducing Al2O3 capping layer, the reliable value of equivalent oxide thickness around 1.8 nm of La2O3/Si has been achieved.

Abstract:Some duality results, due to Dr. Wong Dr. Ng and others, on partially ordered vector spaces are summarized in this paper by means of defining the upward dual pair of set mappings and proving a theorem (see Theorem 3.1) with respect to it, a new characterization (see Corollary 4.2) of locally solid spaces and some related results are obtained. Meantime, the Namioka-Bauer’s and Wong’s positive extension theorem are generalized to ordered locally convex spaces (see Theorem 5.1) and hence some new necessary and sufficient conditions of positive extension in ordered locally convex spaces are obtained

8. Microstructure evolution mechanism in adiabatic shear band in TA2

Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:The microstructure evolution mechanism in adiabatic shear band in commercial pure titanium (TA2) at high strain rate ( ≈105~106/s) were studied. The nanosized recrystallized grains (about 50 nm in diameter) within the center of adiabatic shear band (ASB) were observed by means of transmission electronic microscope (TEM). A Rotational Dynamic Recrystallization (RDR) mechanism can explain the microstructure evolution (ie. nanosized grains was formed within 5-10μs) in ASB. Kinetics calculations indicated that the recrystallized small grains were formed during the deformation and didn’t undergo significant growth by grain boundary migration after deformation.

9. On the Complexity of a Combined Homotopy Interior Point Method for Convex Programming

Abstract:In [1],[2] and [8], a combined homotopy was constructed for solving non-convex programming and convex programming with weaker conditions, without assuming the logarithmic barrier function to be strictly convex and the solution set to be bounded. It was proven that a smooth interior path from an interior point of the feasible set to a K-K-T point of the problem exists. This shows that combined homotopy interior point methods can solve the problem that commonly used interior point methods can't solve. However, so far, there is no result on its complexity, even for linear programming. The main difficulty is that the objective function is not monotonically decrease on the combined homotopy path. In this paper, by taking a piecewise technique, under commonly used conditions, polynomiality of a combined homotopy interior point method is given for convex nonlinear programming.

Abstract:A series of extended-conjugation N-Aryl pyrrolo [3,4-d] annulated tetrathiafulvalene derivatives (3a-d)were synthesized via cross coupling of 4,5-diethyl- thio-1,3-dithiole-2- one with N-aryl-(1,3)-dithiolo[4,5-c]pyrrole-2- thiones (10a-d), the later were obtained by the ring closing reaction of 4,5-bis(bromomethyl)-1,3-dithiole-2- thione (7) and aromatic amines(8a-d). We also studied electrochemical behavior of 3a-d by means of Cyclic Voltammetry. All these compounds have comparable or lower half-wave potentials than those of N-alkyl-pyrrolo[3,4-d] annulated tetrathiafulvalene derivatives (2a-c) which have been reported previously .
