Abstract: Doped ceria-carbonate composite with a high O2- conductivity has been considered as a promising electrolyte for solid oxide fuel cells, while the irregular distribution of its components leads to difficulties in investigating O2- conduction. In this work, samarium doped ceria-(Li0.52Na0.48)2CO3composite electrolyte is synthesized through a sacrificial NiOtemplate- infiltration method. The content and distribution of ceramic and carbonate phasesare controlled by varying the NiO content and the sintering temperature of SDC-NiO composite. Results of direct current four probe measurement show that molten carbonate dominatesO2- conduction in the composite. The tortuosity and inter-particle neck size of ceramic and carbonate phases, instead of the interface, present significant impact on the conductivity of O2-. | |||
