Abstract:a simple method to prepare the novel magnetic carrier based on carbon matrix has been built by heating the aqueous solution of glucose and oleic acid stabilized Fe3O4 nanoparticle at 170 C for 3 h. The results show that the surface hydrophobic modification of Fe3O4 nanoparticle is necessary to the successful synthesis of Fe3O4/C nanocomposition, and a possible formation mechanism of Fe3O4/C nanocomposition was presented. The influence of the reaction parameters such as the concentration of oleic acid stabilized Fe3O4 nanoparticle, the reaction time, etc. on the product was also investigated. In the typical reaction (2.5 g/L of oleic acid-stabilized Fe3O4 nanoparticle, 0.5 M of glucose), Fe3O4/C nanocompositions with the average diameter in the range of 100-200 nm were obtained and its saturation is 12.4 emu/g. In order to characterize Fe3O4/C nanocompositions, XPS, XRD, FT-IR, and Mössbauer spectra were employed.

Abstract:Liquid or supercritical carbon dioxide (sc-CO2) has attracted much interest as environmentally benign alternative for conventional organic solvents. However, low solubility in carbon dioxide, especially polar compounds, is a limitation to the wide practical application of sc-CO2. These solubility problems have been overcome by employing some specialised CO2-soluble surfactants to form reverse micelles or water-in-CO2 (w/c) microemulsions, which could accelerate the development of a broad range of CO2-based processes.

Abstract:An efficient, convergent approach for the total synthesis of aigialomycin D (1) is described. Key features of the synthetic strategy include (a) Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation reaction and selective opening 2,3-epoxy alcohol to elaborate the two hydroxy-bearing stereogenic centers at C5’and C6’ position; (b) Kocienski modified Julia protocol to construct the two E-configured double bonds; (c) Yamaguchi macrolactonization to acccess the 14-membered macrocyclic ring.

Abstract: A mechanism of controlling cross-linking polymerization process is reported in this paper. Chain propagation of cross-linking polymerization system designed in term of the mechanism is controlled, and soluble cross-linked macromolecules are successfully synthesized. The main content of the mechanism is that if there is a reaction that can compete with chain propagation of cross-linking process in a cross-linking polymerization and the reaction extent is enough high, the cross-linking polymerization is controllable. The meaning of controlled cross-linking process is that molecular chain grows limitably rather than illimitably. The characteristic random coil morphology of macromolecules in solution is the basis designing the controlled cross-linking polymerization, according to the morphology, a prepolymer containing two kinds of groups on its chain that can react with each other is synthesized firstly. In the polymerization, there are a pair of competitive reactions of intra- and intermolecular reactions that is a important factor controlling cross-linking process.

Abstract:: Whether the ratio between intra- and inter-molecular reactions in controllable polymerization system changes when concentration alters is investigated in this paper, and it is strictly found that the ratio between intra- and inter-molecular reactions varies due to the alteration of concentration, which manifests that the intra- and inter-molecular reactions response quite differently to the same change of concentration since the two types of reaction belong to different reactive circumstance.

Abstract:There exist intra- and intermolecular reactions in a controlled cross-linking system, and whether cross-linking process and molecular weight of product can be controlled depends on the two reactions. Soluble cross-linked macromolecule is synthesized by changing material ratio resulting in that the number of intermolecular reaction is controlled to a certain extent and molecular weight can’t increase illimitably. Though material ratio is a common chemical reaction condition, it has been proved that it can influence and control chain growth in cross-linking process in the paper.

Abstract:The free-standing, hexagonal GaN micropyramid/nanowire homostructures have been successfully synthesized in a large scale by a facile carbon-assisted thermal reduction route. The product was investigated using SEM, XRD, TEM, EDS, SAED, Raman and PL. The pyramids have lengths of 5~8 μm, and the maximal lateral size of 2~3μm, exhibiting the growth characteristic of hexagonal crystal along c-axis. A single nanowire is grown out from the end tip of the pyramid along <0001> growth direction, indicating its epitaxial relationship with the pyramid. Raman studies reveal the characteristics of the hexagonal structure and high-crystallinity of the product. The room temperature PL spectrum displays strong band-edge emission centered at 372nm. The slight redshift originates from N vacancies caused by Ga-rich growth conditions. The formation mechanism was also discussed. The unique micro/nano structures are good entities for the investigation of fundamental physical phenomenon and also as building blocks for functional nanodevices.

Abstract:The PM3 and B3LYP methods were employed to calculate a number of molecular properties of 7-substituted fluoroquinolones. The correlation between biological activity (against gram-positive organisms or gram-negative organisms) and structural properties was obtained by using the multiple linear regression (MLR) methods. The best model generated correlates the antibacterial activity with EHOMO and QF8 for gram-positive organisms, and EHOMO and dipole moment for gram-negative organisms, respectively.
