Abstract:A new rhodamine hydrazide derivative L containing a long chain schiff base with salicylic acid was synthesized and characterized. Addition of Cu2+ induced a significant solution color change (colorless to pink) and an enhancement in fluorescence of the probe, even in the presence of other commonly coexistent cations in CH3CN/HEPES buffer solvent (1:1, v/v, pH 7.0). Cu2+-promoted ring-opening and hydrolysis of rhodamine L in aqueous acetonitrile media led to the fluorescence turn-on changes with high selectivity and high sensitivity (detection limit ≤ 22.9 nM) and a rapid response time (≤ 1 min). Importantly, the probe was successfully used for fluorescence imaging in colon cancer SW480 cells

Abstract:The porous carbon material prepared from naturally abundant bamboo shoot shell for the application of supercapacitor is put forward. It not only makes waste biomass to be profitable, but also provides a sustainable development way for the preparation of the new porous carbon material. The physicochemical and electrochemical properties of the as-prepared porous carbon samples are studied in detail. The results show that the porous carbon sample prepared at 5:1 weight ratio of KOH to bamboo shoot shell derived carbon (BSSDC) exhibits a specific surface area of ~ 3408 m2 g-1 (BSSDAC-5). In addition, the BSSDAC-5 shows a high specific capacitance of 308 F g-1 at 1 A g-1 and high capacitance retention of 97.40% even after 10000 cycles, indicating its potential application for high-performance supercapacitors.

Abstract:In this paper, well-defined Na2Zn3[Fe(CN)6]2 nanocrystals (~300 nm) have been fabricated by a facile precipitation method from low-cost precursors at room temperature. By employing [Fe(CN)6]3-/[Fe(CN)6]4- couple as redox-centers, this material can realize a Na-storage capacity of 65 mAh g-1, a high rate capability with ~32 mAh g-1 at 20 C, and an impressive cycle life with 94% capacity rentention over 1,000 cycles, offering a low-cost and high performance alternative cathode for large-scale Na-ion applications.

Abstract:A novel N-iodosuccinimide mediated decarboxylative (4+1) oxidative annulation between 2-vinylpyridine derivatives and malonate monoesters was developed. It offered a new way to construct indolizines derivatives by utilizing malonate monoesters as C1 unit. Alkyl 2,2-diiodoacetate was found to be the active reaction intermediate during the transformation.

Abstract:Aging is characterized by progressive decline in physiology and function of adult tissues. Previous studies demonstrated DNA methylation is related to aging. In addition to DNA methylation, reversible RNA modification has recently been proposed to represent another realm for biological regulation in the form of "RNA epigenetics". However, the correlation of emerging RNA epigenetic modifications in aging process is still a mystery. Here we developed an on-line trapping/capillary hydrophilic-interaction liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry method for ultra-sensitive and simultaneous quantification of RNA epigenetic modifications of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) and 5-methylcytosine (5-mC) from human blood. We analyzed the contents of m6A and 5-mC in RNA of blood from 260 healthy persons aged from 0 to 88 years old. The results showed that both m6A and 5-mC contents were significantly decreased and highly correlated with aging process. We then established RNA epigenetic modifications age models according to m6A and 5-mC contents with an mean absolute deviation of 6.7 years for m6A and 8.0 years for 5-mC. This study demonstrated RNA epigenetic modifications of m6A and 5-mC represents strong and reproducible marks of chronological age, which could be potentially applied in health assessment and prevention of diseases.

Abstract:A diastereo- and enantioselective aldol reaction of tert-butyl isocyanoacetate with aldehydes was realized under metal-free phase-transfer catalytic conditions. Key to success was the use of a free 9-OH-containing cinchona alkaloid-based quaternary ammonium salt bearing bulky and electron-withdrawing aryl groups on the N-benzyl moiety. This process tolerates both aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes, affording the corresponding chiral oxazoline products in diastereoselectivities up to 20:1 and enantioselectivities up to 78% ee.

8. Self-Assembling of Single Comb-like Macromolecules on Surface and Their Application in Surface Hydrophobic Improvement

Abstract:The self-assembling of single macromolecule is superior to that of multi macromolecules in enhancing functionalities due to stability of structure and insensitivity of assembling to concentration. Herein, multi-branched comb-like functional macromolecules are prepared through "grafting from" strategy via combination of ROMP and RAFT living polymerization in which back-bones are synthesized by living ROMP of norbornene derivative anchored with RAFT agent and branched chains are grafted by subsequent RAFT polymerization of hydrophilic 4-vinylpridine and hydrophobic tert-butyl acrylate. The molecular weights of these comb-like functional macromolecules are so great that they can self-assembly into arrays similar to the strcture of lotus leaf cuticle on solid surface in the form of single molecule. The comb-like macromolecules with hydrophilic poly(4-vinylpridine) branches are more effective to improve surface hydrophobicity because of the stronger interaction between substrate and poly(4-vinylpridine) branches. Self-assembling of single macromolecules on surface provides a potential feasible method to modify surface hydrophobic property.

Abstract:A efficient 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction between the new chiral cyclic nitrones and alkenes was studied. After the optimization of reaction conditions, a series of valuable chiral isoxazolidine products were prepared with high yields. The structre of the products was characterized by NMR, IR and HR Ms. In addition, according to the analysis of the reaction's transition state, the stereoselevtivity of this cycloaddition and the absolute configuration of cycloadducts was explained reasonably.

Abstract:A series of star-shaped fluorescent molecules (2-5), employing 1,3,5-triphenoxybenzene as core and triarylamine as terminal groups, were synthesized through a facile three-step approach. The stability, solid state structure, and photophysical properties of 2-5 were investigated. In comparison with pristine triphenylamine, the present star-shaped compounds display the strong fluorescence with high fluorescence quantum yields up to 81.8 %. Besides, the influence of the aryls on the electronic properties of the resulting star-shaped molecules has been evaluated.
