Abstract:The article present first-principles investigations of the Crystal structure and magnetic properties of [Cu2(ClCH2COO)(2,2′-bpy)2(OH)(H2O)](NO3)2 in the crystalline state. The calculations are mainly based on the local density approximation within density functional theory,The predicted structural and magnetic properties of [Cu2(ClCH2COO)(2,2′-bpy)2(OH)(H2O)](NO3)2 are generally in good agreement with recent work.. The magnetic behaviour of the compound were measured with a SQUID magnetometer (MPMS5, Quantum Design) in a temperature range of 1.76 to 300 K (μ=10-6emu). The intramolecular interaction within the dimeric unit is described by the Heisenberg model with a spin Hamiltonian Hˆ ex = –2JexSˆ Cu1•Sˆ Cu2 (SˆCu1 = SˆCu2=1/2),The magnetic data were interpreted considering exchange interactions within the dimeric unit (Jex =-0.36 cm–1 ,g =2.07 ).

Abstract:A simple and efficient route is reported for the synthesis of mesoporous carbon materials via carbonization of a kind of composite containing citric acid and aluminum phosphate (CA/AlPO). The pore size of the mesoporous carbon can be tuned in a certain range by addition of suitable amount of sucrose into the CA/AlPO composite. The characteristic results show that these carbon material possesses uniform pore size distribution and graphitic phase characteristic. The mesostructured AlPO, which is in-situ formed during the carbonization process, can be regarded as a hard-template for the formation of porous carbon material. The uniform distribution of citric acid, and the suitable interaction between citric acid and aluminum phosphate play important roles in the growth process of carbon network.

Abstract:In this work, various supported platinum catalysts (Pt/MeOx, Me= Fe, Zn, Al, Ni) were prepared by colloid deposition method, and their catalytic properties for the low-temperature CO oxidation were investigated. It was found that the type of support has considerable effect on the activity of the catalysts. The addition of water vapor in feed stream has the positive influence on the activity of the catalysts. Under an optimized tested condition, Pt/Fe2O3 shows unusual low-temperature activity and long-term stability, and it can completely transform CO into CO2 at room temperature in the presence of water vapor for more than 3000 h.

Abstract:A novel CdS-supramolecular organogel hybrid film with an unusual surface morphology has been fabricated by exposing a supramolecular organogel film containing Cd(Ac)2 in an H2S atmosphere at room temperature. The organogel film was prepared by spin-coating a LMOG (low-molecular mass organic gelator) gel of dmethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) onto a glass plate substrate. XRD, SEM, EDS, TG-DTA, UV-vis, PL (photoluminescence) spectroscopy and PL lifetime measurements were employed to characterize the film. It was shown that the organogel film had functioned as a template to control the morphology of the final hybrid film. The quantities and sizes of the CdS particles embedded in the organogel film can be easily altered by varying the initial concentration of Cd(Ac)2. Importantly, the PL of the hybrid film is very sensitive to the presence of some organic monoamines and diamines. The selectivity and reversibility of the sensing process were investigated.

Abstract:Amorphous manganese oxide nanowires were potentiodynamically deposited onto graphite substrate at room temperature without any templates. The morphology and crystal structure of the prepared manganese oxide nanowires were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. Moreover, the prepared manganese oxide nanowires/graphite (MnOx-NWs/G) electrode was applied as electrode material for supercapacitors and the corresponding capacitive properties were evaluated by cyclic voltammetrty and galvanostatic charge-discharge method. The results indicate that the MnOx-NWs/G electrode has excellent capacitive properties: high specific capacitance (208 F g-1 in 0.1M Na2SO4 aqueous solutions from 0 to 1 V at a current density of 1 mA cm-2), high electrochemical reversibility and excellent long-term charge-discharge cycle stability.

Abstract:Photonic supraparticles were sassembled by growing colloidal crystals in aqueous droplets suspended in n-butanol. The droplet products were highly ordered and smooth particle assemblies, which diffract light and have remarkable structural stability. The method allows control of particle size and shape from spheres through balls to toroids. The results provide the way to controllable formation of a wide variety of photonic supraparticles.

Abstract:In order to gain improved understanding of the kinetics and dynamics of C, N, and O reaction with a solid surface, it is essential to focus on the reaction from the perspectives of bond formation, bond dissociation, bond relaxation, bond vibration, and the consequences on charge polarization and repopulation as well as the energetic response of the involved atoms and valence electrons. The sp-orbital hybridization is suggested necessary for the C,N, and O involved reactions with associations of anisotropic bonding and valence identities and the localized energy states of bonding pairs, nonbonding lone pairs, and the lone pair induced antibonding dipoles, as well as the hydrogen bond like and the C-H bond like states, which could unify the observations using atomistic microscopy, crystallography, electronic and vibronic spectroscopes, and provide guidelines for functional materials design.

Abstract:Doughnutlike structure CeNiO, prepared by a novel oxalate gel co-precipitation method, exhibited significantly higher activity in oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of propane at as 275 oC as low temperature than conventional catalysts such as VMgO. It is suggested that oxygen vacancy formed in CeO2 lattice due to the incorporating of Ni atoms adsorbs and activates the molecular oxygen to form active oxygen species. The superior performance for propane oxidative dehydrogenation over CeNiO catalyst is attributes not only to the properties of the CeNiO catalyst but also to its unique doughnutlike structure.

9. Size Effect of Copper Upon Electroless Initiation

Abstract:It is found that small isolated copper discs are more difficult to initiate electroless nickel plating than larger size copper discs. That is, “skip plating” is easy to take place on small sized copper pad. The main reason might be the different rate of conversion of palladium (Pd(s)), which can be obtained by exchange reaction between palladium ion and copper pad. For the “skip plating” caused by the covering effect, it is related to the balance of electrochemical potential. The electron transportation happens in the activation process, Which mainly determines the “skip plating” happens or not.

Abstract:We investigated precipitation pattern formation in a medium in which the source substance was inhomogeneously distributed. Depending on the imposed concentration gradient and the location where the second substance was added, various new precipitation structures such as bifurcated segments, budding patterns, and Liesegang rings segregated with broken circles were observed. Dependence of those new structures on the solubility of precipitate, supersaturation level, and nucleation and aggregation thresholds were systematically characterized. Our calculation further illustrates that despite of the presence of an imposed concentration gradient, the location of Xn of the nth band and its time of formation tn still satisfies a simple spacing and time law, Xn ~ tn1/2, however the distance between two adjacent precipitation bands departs from the linear relationship after broken rings had developed in the medium.
