Abstract:We have used Monte Carlo simulations to study the translocation of a flexible polymer through a pore in a membrane, assuming an attractive interaction between the monomers and the membrane on the trans side of the membrane and no interaction on the cis side. For the cases where temperature lower than a critical value, the value of translocation times decreases upon increasing the temperature. The translocation time depends on the absorbed energy in a nontrivial way.As the solvent quality improved from “poor” to “good,” the translocation probability increased initially before becoming stable.

Abstract:Using the dynamic mean-field density functional method, we explore microphase of ABC comb copolymers in a two-dimensional space. Simulations are carried out for different copolymer architectures. The application of this method to comb copolymers melts leads to some microphases patterns, such as corolla, lamellae and knitting nap pattern, etc. By systematically varying the Flory-Huggins parameters, phase diagrams are made for the two different systems. When both volume fractions and interaction energies of three species are same for the two systems, the stable microphases depend greatly on their architectures.
