Abstract:The body surface of some organisms has roughened structure, which is related to drag reduction in moving fluid. To imitate these structures, models with a roughened surface were made. In order to find a relationship between drag reduction and the roughened surface, an orthogonal design test was employed in a low speed wind tunnel. Six factors likely to influence drag reduction were considered, and each factor tested at three levels. The six factors were the configuration, diame-ter/bottom width, height/depth, distribution, the arrangement of the rough structures on the experimental model and the wind speed. It was shown that the roughened surface causes drag reduction, and the distribution of roughening structures on the model, and wind speed, are the predominant factors affecting drag reduction. Using analysis of variance, the optimal com-bination and levels were obtained, which were a wind speed of 44 m/s, distribution of the roughened structure on the tail of the experimental model, the configuration of riblets, diameter/bottom width of 1 mm, height/depth of 0.5 mm, arranged in a rhombic formation. At the optimal combination mentioned above, the 90% confidence interval for drag reduction was (12.99%, 18.93%).

Abstract:With the knowledge of heterogeneous characteristics of thermal barrier coating materials at mesoscopic level, a coupled thermo-mechanical-damage (TMD Model) model was introduced and used to numerically quantify the thermal stresses and crack development of in thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) composite subjected to decreased temperatures. The effect of different surface precrack morphologies, such as precrack length and precrack density, on an interface crack subjected to thermal loading caused by a temperature change is presented. It provides us with a more sensible physical intuition and a more accurate mathematical for optimizing the design and the processing of ceramic coatings subjected to the coupled thermal-mechanical loading

Abstract:Project Management in risky environment is not an easy job. It requires a project manager to possess multi-skills of Risk Management. Management tools facilitate the decision-making of a project manager. However, selection of appropriate tools requires the project manager’s mastery of those tools. Risk Management Model is built on the processes of some best risk management practices. It enables a project manager to discharge his or her responsibilities effectively. Then, the assets of the organization will not be placed at risk in the course of Project Management.
