Abstract:The switched reluctance machine (SRM) has attracted a great deal of interest in the development of integrated starter/generator (ISG) for aircraft or electric vehicle engines and power systems due to the low cost and high reliability. This paper presents a dynamic cosimulation approach for switched reluctance starter/genenrator (SRS/G) system assisted by Maxwell SPICE and Simplorer. The non-linear magnetization characteristics of flux linkage and torque of the machine have been considered and computed by finite element analysis (FEA). From the FEA static results, a dynamic equivalent mgnetic circuit model of SRS/G is introduced into Simplorer using Maxwell SPICE rules which is considered the indirect field-circuit coupling. The control strategies for the SRS/G operating in the mo-toring and generating states are presented. The simulation and experimental results for a 6/4 SRS/G system are also presented and compared to demonstrate the validity of the simulation method.

Abstract:The paper uses an LMI-based iterative nonlinear optimization algorithm to establish a method of designing state-feedback controllers for power systems with a time-varying delay. This method is based on the delay-dependent stabilization conditions obtained by free weighting matrix approach. In the stabilization conditions, the upper bound of wide-area signal's transmission delays is taken into consideration. Combining theories of state observer, the adeptive supervisory controller (ASC) is designed and time-delay output feedback robust controller is realized for power system. The ASC uses the input information from wide-area measurement systems (WAMS) and dispatches supplementary control signals to the available local controllers. Simulation study in the New England test power system confirm that the proposed ASCs can dampen power oscillation effectively and is robust to time-varying delay condition.

Abstract:With the accelerating expansion of wind power in China, a rational assessment method of wind farm access points plays an active role in guiding power system planning and operation. The traditional deterministic security analysis method is difficult to take the uncertainty of wind power into account, recently risk analysis method has aroused extensive concern of researchers. The alteration of power flow after outage is used to calculate the severity index of lines in contingency set, which is considered as the selection principle of cascading outage chain in this paper. And N-k cascading risk assessment method considering the uncertainty of wind speed is used to analysis the security of different planning schemes of wind farm access points. At the same time, the risks of energy storage devices integrated on the side of wind farm is also studied. With analyzing the risk level of power system, the methodology for determining reasonable and efficient energy storage configuration is also proposed. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by a modified IEEE-RTS system.

Abstract:This paper investigate the design optimization of a new modular linear flux-switching permanent magnet (MLFSPM) motor with complementary, symmetrical and modular structure and compare its performance with the conventional linear flux-switching permanent magnet (LFSPM). The key of the proposed structure is that each phase armature winding is composed of two coils whose positions are mutually one half of the stator pole pitch and there are flux barrier between the two adjacent "E" models. Hence, the back-EMF waveform of each phase is sinusoidal and the three phase magnet circuits are symmetrical. We first optimize the design and analyze the electromagnetic performance of the proposed MLFSPM motor by means of finite element method (FEM). Then, the structure of the conventional LFSPM motor is also optimized and then compared with the proposed motor based on the same method. The results reveal that the proposed motor has sinusoidal and symmetrical three-phase back-EMF waveforms, smaller cogging force, and smaller force ripple than the existing motors. Moreover, a prototype of the proposed motor is built to validate the study.

Abstract:To accelerate the adaptive protection's application, an adaptive protection system for distribution line of 35kV or under 35kV is designed in this paper. The system's overall structure is constructed and the distribution line's disturbance area model is erected. The adaptive setting algorithm, realizing strategy of adaptive protection function and a difference filter adding full-wave Morlet complex wavelet amplitude algorithm are presented. The transmission time delay model and performance evaluation indexes of fieldbus are offered. The DeviceNet communication performance of the system's substation level and the periodic communication's transmission time delay of the system's central control center level are analyzed. Results of analysis and simulation indicate that the adaptive protection system can set the protection settings in the central control center, substation control center and adaptive protection device on-line. And it can adapt to the changes of topology structure, operating mode, fault type and line's load of power system. The difference filter adding full-wave Morlet complex wavelet amplitude algorithm can filter the decaying DC component and has better frequency characteristic and stability. The DeviceNet fieldbus and industrial Ethernet communication in the system can satisfy the requirement of real time and reliability of substation automation.

Abstract:To address the performance degradations of optimal designs arising from uncertainties using traditional concepts and methodologies, a robust oriented cross entropy method is proposed. To efficiently compute the robust performances, the normal distribution function is used as the probability density function, and a methodology for evaluating and assigning robust performance to promising solutions is proposed. A statistical model is introduced for the constraint functions to enhance the quality of the final design. To find the global and robust optimal solutions simultaneously in a single run, the original objective rather than the robust performance parameters is used for selecting the elite solutions. Two examples are reported to validate the proposed algorithm.

Abstract:This paper investigates the inductance characteristics of a novel 3-phase (12-stator-tooth/10-rotor-pole) flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machine with doubly-salient structure based on finite element analysis (FEA). Firstly, the topology and operation principle of the FSPM machine are introduced. Secondly, the apparent and incremental inductances are defined. Then, the conventional calculation method of transforming the inductance in stator frame into rotor frame is performed. To overcome the shortcoming of the conventional method, e.g. time-consuming, a new simplified and fast method is proposed to obtain the d-axis and q-axis inductances directly and accurately at two special rotor positions. The proposed method is validated by the comparison of the predicted results by two ways.
