	Abstract:In this paper, two nonparametric amplitude spectral estimators, which belong to the adaptive filtering-based approach, are proposed. In case of only several snapshots available, the filtering data, which is formed by weighting the snapshots with the traditional Fourier weight vector, contains more larger residual term besides the signal term at the frequency of interest. Those residual term dramatically reduce the accuracy of the spectral estimate at the frequency. By weighting the snapshots with Capon weight vector, the weighted data is slightly influenced by the other frequency components, and the corresponding filters perform better estimation accuracy and higher spectral resolution. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the performance of the new approaches.

	2. Design of Low-density Parity Check codes for MIMO Systems with Doubly-iterative receivers

	Abstract:A soft interference probabilistic data association (SC-PDA ) detector is proposed for multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) system, which can provide a better performance than probabilistic data association (PDA) detector with lower complexity. The MIMO doubly-iterative receiver consists of two iterative decoding loops. In the outer loop, the soft information is exchanged between the MIMO detector and the LDPC decoder. In the inner loop, it is exchanged between variable node and check node decoders inside the LDPC decoder. On the light of the extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart technique, a LDPC code degree profile optimization algorithm is developed for the doubly-iterative receiver. Simulation results show the doubly-receiver with SC-PDA can have a better performance than the one with PDA, additional performance gains can be achieved by employing the optimized irregular LDPC code than the regular one.

	Abstract:For Evolved-UTRA system based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), with orthogonality within the cell, the main interference will be inter-cell interference. It is important to consider what techniques to be used in E-UTRA to handle inter-cell interference. The common theme of inter-cell interference coordination/avoidance is to apply restrictions to the resource management in a coordinated way between cells, whatever static, semi-static or dynamic coordinated way. The restrictions of transmit power or time/frequency resource will provide the possibility for improvement in signal-to-interference ratio. In this paper, the combination of beam-forming with inter-cell interference coordination/avoidance approach will be analyzed. And some simulation results will be given to further analyze the performance of inter-cell interference mitigation with beam-forming and the combinations. Beam-forming can be easily combined with other inter-cell interference mitigation approaches for more efficient inter-cell interference suppression.

	Abstract:This paper presents an approach towards JPEG2000 recommended lifting-based Le Call 5/3 wavelet transform. The deign performs boundary extending while inputting datum, and only uses few shifters and adders, the architecture is efficient and height performance. The deign simulated on FPGA.

	5. Modified IEEE 802.11 EDCF to Implement QoS of Multimedia Traffic

	Abstract:Enhanced distributed coordination function has been proposed in IEEE 802.11e draft to ensure QoS of multimedia traffic over WLAN. However the performance of EDCF may be poor in some cases. Thus, a modified EDCF, MEDCF is presented in this paper, which can supply different multiple access techniques to services with different requirements on QoS, such as p-persistent CSMA/CA for real-time service and non-persistent CSMA/CA for non-real-time service. Analysis and simulation show that MEDCF can support multimedia service and assure quality of real-time service.

	Abstract:Directional distributed coordination function (D-DCF), a modified medium access control protocol of IEEE 802.11, is proposed in this paper to support smart adaptive array antennas over WLAN. D-DCF based on hybrid virtual carrier sense (HVCS) mechanism can coexist with DCF. A smart antenna has omni-directional and directional mode in operation. In D-DCF, before sending any data-frames, the sender and receiver node transmit a pilot sequence by means of omni-directional request-to-send/clear-to-send (ORTS/OCTS) handshake mechanism. Based on the pilot, the directional beam can be formed by the smart antenna. Then the node can transmit its data-frame in directional mode. The other nodes save the transmission time between the sender and receiver in omni-directional mode in their network allocation vectors. When the sender and receiver communicate in directional mode, the other nodes can contend channel to send their data-frames. Hence, D-DCF supports space division multiple access (SDMA). Moreover, D-DCF supports both forward and backward transmission in one access period. Simulation results show that D-DCF can support smart antennas effectively and provide much higher network throughput, lower delay, jitter and packet-loss-rate than DCF does.

	Abstract:A simple analytical model for performance analysis of IEEE 802.11 WLAN under un-ideal condition is proposed in this paper. Simulation results show that the model is accurate to compute the saturation throughput, packet drop probability and delay under un-ideal channel.

	Abstract:IEEE 802.11 includes two medium access control (MAC) protocols, a basic distributed coordination function and an optional point coordination function (PCF). PCF is a polling-based MAC protocol able to support collision free and time bounded services. However no suitable PCF analytical model is presented now. A simple, but extremely accurate, analytical model is presented in this paper to compute the system throughout. Simulation results show that the model is valid.

	9. A Multi-service Timeslot Dynamic Reservation Protocol for Multimedia over IEEE 802.11 Ad Hoc Wireless LAN

	Abstract:This paper presents a multi-service timeslot dynamic reservation (MTDR) protocol to support voice with constant bit-rate (CBR), video with variable bit-rate (VBR) and data with available bit-rate (ABR) over IEEE 802.11 Ad hoc wireless LAN. In MTDR, Real-time service (voice and video) has a higher priority assigned than non real-time service (data), in accessing the shared channel. The quality of real-time service can be guaranteed by reserving service timeslots. Moreover, MTDR defines multiple service timeslots respectively for CBR and VBR real-time services to meet their different requirement on quality of service (QoS). A suitable analytical approach is proposed in order to evaluate the voice, video and data subsystem performance. Simulations show that MTDR is able to provide almost 90% channel utilization, low call blocking probability due to setup time exceeded and packet loss due to delay expiry, and low jitter for real-time multimedia service.

	10. Separation of Bi and Al originated from Bi4Ti3O12 deposited on aluminum foil

	Abstract:Etched aluminum foils covered with bismuth titanium oxide Bi4Ti3O12 (BTO) by sol-gel coating has been studied. There were some “whiskers” of metallic luster on the surface after thermal treatment under some special conditions. The “whiskers” were verified as Bi and Al via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), which can react with borate solution. The effects of technological parameters such as heat-treatment temperature T, precursor concentration C, and heating rate V have been explored. It is shown that the formation difficulty of Bi and Al increases with the T, C and decreases with V.
