Abstract:With the development of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), it has been widely used in many fields, such as transportation, shopping malls and logistics. Among them, RFID tag antenna is an important part of this technology, and the performance of tag antenna is also concerned by more and more people. It has been noticed that different working environments have a great impact on the performance of tags. Especially on the metal surface, because the metal will reflect a lot of electromagnetic waves, the performance of ordinary tag antenna may deteriorate dramatically, resulting in the inability to effectively read information. The goal of this project is to design a RFID tag antenna suitable for free space and metal surface and test its performance. An RFID tag is designed for ultra-high frequency band (902MHz-928MHz) in North America. The tag antenna is based on the structure of micro strip antenna. The tag antenna model is designed and simulated by using three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation software. The whole model consists of surface metal patch, medium substrate and metal floor at the bottom. In terms of bandwidth, a vertical H-slot method is used to cut the current path of the original patch to form multiple resonant modes, which expands the bandwidth of the antenna. The impedance of Impinj\'s Monza-4 chip is 11-143j at 915MHz. After testing, the echo loss of the tag antenna S11 is less than - 10dB in the range of 902MHz-928MHz. The gain of this antenna is also good. After the simulation and optimization process, the tag antenna is fabricated, the antenna object is made and the reading distance of the antenna is measured in free space and metal surface.

Abstract:Vehicular Delay-Tolerant Networks (VDTNs) encounter a great challenge with mobile data traffic, due to vehicles\' high mobility and complex wireless environment. Based on high-throughput mmWave communication, the roadside unit (RSU) plays a significant role in offloading the vehicle\'s data from cellular infrastructure to adjacent RSU. This paper formulate the selection of number and locations to deploy RSU in urban area as an optimization problem. A data-driven RSU deployment algorithm is proposed to maximize RSU utilization and reduce service waiting time. Real trajectory dataset is adopted to evaluate the proposed algorithm. The results show that the proposed algorithm reduces the average service waiting time and achieves a higher RSU utilization.

Abstract:The traditional 12-lead electrocardiography (ECG) monitor system can record limited body surface potential (BSP) information at some particular area, where the cardiac state can only be roughly evaluated. In order to collect more heart information, in this study, a 32-lead BSP acquisition system is designed. The Wilson central terminal (WCT) is set as the reference electrode to obtain the BSPs at different points. To verify the proposed system, three sets of BSPs about healthy adult male are collected. By comparing the QRS complex of single cardiac cycle, an equilibrium point of BSP signal is defined (i.e. the amplitudes of R and S waves are clearly flipped) through this new system. Such equilibrium point can be a potential position index in clinical diagnosis.

Abstract:Kernel fuzzy C-means(KFCM) algorithm is proposed to manage fingerprint database (also known as radio map) collected from WiFi indoor positioning system. Clustering method greatly reduces the calculation load of position match process. By setting the cluster amount k before initialization, after constant iteration of cluster centers' renewal as well as membership' update until the objective function is minimized or reaches the preset conditions, the database is fuzzily divided into k clusters with k representative centers. With the purpose of obtaining superior clustering performance and better localization precision, this paper proposed several improvements. First, choose optimal interval of reference points(RP) and the amount of access point(AP) to build fingerprint database in order to enhance positioning precision; second, deduce an applicable cluster amount based on the structure characteristics of fingerprint database using sample density method; third, by approximating actual kernel matrix to a hypothetical ideal kernel matrix derives to a kernel parameter that is more appropriate for the radio map. Assessment criteria VXB is proposed to verify the effectiveness of kernel parameter's optimization based on Iris dataset. By means of the parameters adjustment above, the clustering result is more suitable for the selected datasets, and the last two improvements lead to 19.5% and 23.55% improvement in localization accuracy.

Abstract:With the prevalence of mobile imaging devices, large amount of photos are produced in each day. Automatic image enhancing models, such as exemplar-based color correction model, are highly needed. However, current models do not consider how to obtain reliable exemplars. To address this issue, we proposed a novel approach for image color enhancement, which provides the color correction model with aesthetically good exemplars. Based on feature correspondence between the exemplars and the target photo, the model optimizes the correction parameters by solving a matrix factorization problem. In the model, the exemplars are selected by ranking their aesthetic values, which are produced by a deep CNN model. The selection process makes the exemplars more reliable in the correction model, and thus improves the visual quality of the corrected results. Visual and quantitative comparison in the experiments validate our improvement.

Abstract:The interfacial thermal conductivity of Aluminum/Copper interface is systematic studied based on non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) method by considering the atomic migration and atomic weight under different temperatures. An interesting phenomenon is discovered that the interfacial thermal conductivity is effect by the atomic weight of each materials. The thermal conductivity of the materials with small atomic weight is larger than that of the materials with large atomic weight in the interface heat transfer. The contribution of aluminum and copper to the interface thermal conductivity is inversely proportional. This investigation is helpful for understanding the interface heat transfer mechanism of the interface structures, which also implies a potential method for the analysis of the interface thermal performance and design of the interface structures.

Abstract:Due to the dynamic relative motion of the mobile station and the satellite, the signal is affected by varied frequency offset, resulting in a worse performance, such as a higher bit error rate (BER) in the low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication system. Considering that a mobile station is usually covered by several LEO satellites., this paper presents a novel scheme on adjusting OFDM subcarrier interval, which would properly make use of multiple link signals to achieve a maximum user capacity. What's more, BER would be controlled at a reasonable threshold value by eliminating the inter carrier interference (ICI). The signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) of the received signal is analyzed theoretically, and the formula of BER as well as user capacity is derived out according to the very circumstance. And simulation is presented to demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves a much larger user capacity by searching for the optimum subcarrier interval.

Abstract:Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) technology provides a good support for vehicle networking communication because its high speed, large capacity, low delay and other characteristics. But for the highway, which is sensitive to delay, the periodic transmission of the beacon in the LTE-A system leads to an intolerable delay. To optimize the delay, this paper improve a distributed peer discovery protocol. The proposed protocol requires vehicles to advertise their presence, and Evolved NodeB (eNB) divides them into clusters following a certain rule, which we called peer discovery. In order to minimize delay occupancy, vehicles in different groups broadcast their information on the same slot. Our numerical analysis indicates that under the same discovery probability, the delay is reduced by 60%.

Abstract:In this paper, a robust model predictive control strategy is presented for a three-phase inverter for photovoltaic systems. Different from large-scale power systems where the load change are ignored, the effect of load change in local PV systems are considered, which will affect the load current seriously and cannot be neglected. The simulation result shows the inverter output current can track the reference input current well with a lower total harmonic distortion, which illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:Performance of free-space optics (FSO) link using multiplexing orbital angular momentum (OAM) states over non-Kolmogorov turbulent model is investigated in this paper. The probability of keeping the original OAM state after passing through the atmosphere turbulence has been estimated by the numerical analysis. We show that the detection probability of the original OAM state varies along with the topological charge of the transmitted OAM state, the aggregate capacity and per-channel bit-error rate are investigated to verify the influence imposed by the turbulence of the multi-OAM system.
