Abstract:Image matching-aided navigation system has broad application prospects, according to its prominent advantages in autonomy and high precision. In order to meet the demands of real time and accuracy of image aided navigation system, the paper propose a subpixel precision image matching algorithm by using a method called the four-dimension real matrix. At first this paper converts the transformation of aircraft's position and attitude to transformation of two images. Then an optimal transform matrix which is called a four-dimension real matrix can be obtained by the least square algorithm to fit the two images. At last, the deviations of aircraft's position and attitude are derived according to the proposed model. Experiments have been conducted and the results show that the time consumption is within a second, translation deviations are within a pixel, and angle deviations are within a degree, which illustrates the good performance of the algorithm and the model. As a conclusion, the algorithm satisfies the requirements of real-time situation and accuracy of the image matching-aided navigation system.

Abstract:Since the texture of a depth map is easier than that of its corresponding color image, the prediction mode which is used to predict complex texture for color image is less used in depth maps, and could be discarded during the intra coding of depth maps so as to reduce coding complexity. Experimental results demonstrate that not only the coding complexity is reduced, but the coding efficiency is also improved. Compared with H.264, the average coding time reduction is 7.18%, while the maximum and average bit rate savings of depth maps can be achieved as high as -14.79% and -5.92%, respectively, while maintaining the same quality of synthesized virtual views.

Abstract:In image steganalysis applications, the urgent problem is how todesign an effective classification architecture for given large-scalefeatures. In this paper we propose an approach toautomatically improve the current classification rate under the specific steganographic methods base on ELM feature selection. This approach referred asELM revisited feature selection (ELM-RFS) can tune input weights interm of minimizing mean error. This idea is derived from cross-validation learning and one-dimensional optimal search. During updating of inputweights, we seek the energy decreasing direction directly to discard the influence of leastsignificant features using the leave-one-out (LOO) selection, instead of the updated one-dimensional search at the current energy decreasing direction. The experimental resultsdemonstrate and verify that the new approach is less classification errorthan other classifier such as SVM, direct ELM-LOO learning andconventional ELM in state-of-the-art features.

Abstract:The paper puts forward a kind of scale invariant feature matching method for asteroid image sequences. In which we apply EMD (Empirical Mode Decomposition) to extract the features from image sequences, SIFT (scale invariant feature transform) to match the extracted features, and affine transform to stretch and rotate the images. We can achieve a global view of the scanned asteroid surface. Experiment results demonstrate the excellent performance of the EMD-SIFT based method in mosaicking the asteroid image sequences.

Abstract:In high dynamic range imaging, it is important to estimate the radiometric response function of a camera that relates image pixel values to scene radiance. Among numerous existing approaches, Debevec and Malik's algorithm has been widely used to determine the response function from multiple differently exposed photographs. However, with this algorithm, the computational complexity goes up when the number of exposures decreases. The problem becomes serious in the case of two exposures. In this paper, we present a differential approach that can significantly reduce the complexity of their algorithm at small numbers of exposures. Experimental results illustrate the performance of the proposed method.

Abstract:For automatically mining the underlying relationships between different famous persons in daily news, for example, building a news person based network with the faces as icons to facilitate face-based person finding, we need a tool to automatically label faces in new images as their real names. This paper studies the problem of linking names with faces from large-scale news images with captions. In our previous work, we proposed a method called Person-based Subset Clustering which is mainly based on face clustering for all face images derived from the same name. The location where a name appears in a caption, as well as the visual structural information within a news image provided informative cues such as who are really in the associated image. By combining the domain knowledge from the captions and the corresponding image we propose a novel cross-modality approach to further improve the performance of linking names with faces. The experiments are performed on the data sets including approximately half a million news images from Yahoo! news, and the results show that the proposed method achieves significant improvement over the clustering-only methods.

Abstract:Face hallucination is to synthesize high-resolution face image from the input low-resolution one. Although many two-step learning-based face hallucination approaches have been developed, they suffer from the expensive computational cost due to the separate calculation of the global and local models. To overcome this problem, we propose a correlative two-step learning-based face hallucination approach which bridges the gap between the global model and the local model. In the global phase, we build a global face hallucination framework by combining the steerable pyramid decomposition and the reconstruction. In the residue compensation phase, based on the combination weights and constituent samples obtained in the global phase, a residue face image is synthesized by the neighbor reconstruction algorithm to compensate the hallucinated global face image with detailed facial features. The ultimate hallucinated face image is the composition of the global face image and the residue face image. Compared with existing approaches, in the global phase, our global face image is more similar to the original high-resolution face image. Moreover, in the residue compensation phase, we use the combination weights and constituent samples obtained in the global phase to compute the residue face image, by which the computational complexity can be greatly reduced without compromising the quality of facial details. The experimental results and comparisons demonstrate that our approach can not only synthesize distinct high-resolution face images efficiently, but also has high computational efficiency.

Abstract:Bag of words algorithm is to integrate visual words, described the local features of the object, together to form a bag model. It does not consider the structural information of the object, considering only the local features. This paper presents an image classification algorithm based on structural information. Algorithm adds the structural information of the object according to the ideas of generalized Hough transform. We use the structural information on the local features of the test image with generalized Hough transform and get the possible position of the center of the object. Then, we have to analyze the template size on the basis of the dispersion degree of the voting points, and finally optimize the voting results. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method is superior to the method which does not consider the structural information and uses the low-level features to classification.

10. The Research and Improvement on Dark Channel Prior Image Dehazing Algorithm

Abstract:This paper focuses on the improvement of a newly proposed single image dehazing algorithm, Dark Channel Prior Method which is firstly proposed in paper Single Image Haze Removal Using Dark Channel Prior. The dark channel prior dehazing algorithm is based on a significant observation that in haze-free outdoor images most regions contain some pixels which have very low intensities (dark channel) in at least one color channel (RGB). Based on this observation, we can use the dark channel as the prior to directly estimate the haze thickness and recover a high quality haze-free image. Compared with other methods for single image dehazing, dark channel prior not only has better performance in situations of dense haze, but also do not rely much on significant variance on transmission and color information in the input image. Based on that, the dark channnel prior method, as a novel haze removing method, provides a simpler and more effective way for single image haze removal. Apart from that, an improvement of the original dark channel dehazing algorithm, mainly focus on removing the noise artefacts showed in the dehazed images, will be paid more attention. Through the comparison between the original and refined dark channel prior dehazing algorithm, we can see that by using the dynamic estimation algorithm on the value of t0, which is proposed in this paper, can significantly improve the dehazing performance and the dehazed image quality of the original dark channel prior dehazing algorithm.
