Abstract:In digital image forensic, resampling detection is a very useful tool because of the common use of resampling in digital image processing. In this paper a new resampling detection algorithm is proposed which explores the periodicity among the rows or columns of the images. The core of the proposed algorithm is the use of correlation coefficients based on the observation that the correlation coefficients of the adjacent rows or columns is periodic in resampled images. In some images, the image contents also show periodicity, which will interfere the detection of resampling. Some measures are taken to reduce that interference. As experiments show, the proposed algorithm is more robust than prior algorithm and shows better results, especially when detecting images which have been through nearest interpolation or resized by ratio 2.0.

Abstract:In three-dimensional (3D) video coding, the distortions in texture videos and depth maps can all affect the quality of the synthesized virtual view. Therefore, under the total bitrate constraint, effective bit allocation between texture and depth is very important for 3D video coding. In this paper, a joint bit allocation and rate control method for multi-view video plus depth (MVD) based 3D video coding is proposed. We firstly derive a view synthesis distortion model to characterize the effects of coding distortions of texture videos and depth maps on the synthesized virtual view. Based on this model, we derive a rate-distortion model to characterize the relationship between the bitrate and the view synthesis distortion, and the optimal bitrate ratio between texture and depth is established by solving optimization problem. Then, rate control algorithm is performed on view level, texture/depth level and frame level. Experimental results show that compared with other method, the proposed bit allocation method can obtain higher performance of view synthesis. Moreover, the proposed rate control method can accurately control the bitrate to satisfy the total bitrate constraint.

Abstract:Human visual system function is non-uniform to visual perception. Normally, People tend to focus on one or more specific moving objects while watching video. In addition, video transmission is flawed due to heterogeneous networks and limited bandwidth. Therefore, how to transmit the content of interests more efficiently becomes a growing concerning topic. This paper puts forward to getting multi-regions using particle tracking filters, with each region implementing motion estimation and allocating bit-rate in accordance with 3D-wavelet scalable video coding model. Experiment and comparison results are encouraging and show that the performance of our approach is effective, in particularly the situations of lower bit rate. The approach is particularly suitable for mobile video communication, and video surveillance on intelligent vehicle.

Abstract:With the development of quantum computer andquantum network, the security of quantum data becomes moreand more important. Quantum watermarking is the techniquewhich embeds the invisible quantum signal such as the owner’sidentification into quantum multimedia data (such as audio, video and image) for copyright protection. In this paper, a novelwatermark strategy for quantum images is proposed based onflexible representation for quantum images (FRQI). Comparedwith the former strategy (only one based on quantum images)which can only be used to verify the identity of the true ownerof a carrier image, the proposed method can also be used to findout who is the real owner. And it is impossible for anyone exceptthe copyrighter to clear off or extract the watermark images.

Abstract:Key frame extraction is one of the basic procedures in video retrieval. Key frame extraction aims at finding a small collection of image frame sequences extracted from a video sequence in order to reduce the amount of data that must be examined. Efficient key frame extraction techniques will facilitate the video browsing systems, which have wide applications in real world. In this paper, we proposed an innovative approach to the selection of key frames of a video sequence. First, two descriptors of color and edge features are used to describe visual content, and are integrated as a muti-feature descriptor, then we analyze the differences between two consecutive frames of a video sequence. Finally, key frames are extracted by the dynamic threshold algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can dynamically and rapidly select a variable number of key frames within each sequence and can achieve high compression ratio and high fidelity.

Abstract:Trademark recognition has been played a very important part in our daily life, which can be applied to various fields such as advertisement, logistics transportation network, E-commerce and so on. In this paper, a fast trademark recognition method based on shape context is proposed to detect and classify the trademarks in images. However, the difficulties lie in that when the sample set becomes larger, along with the calculation of the feature points matching increases, the computational efficiency greatly reduced. The method proposed in this paper attempts to cluster the feature vectors in training procedure so that the search scope of K nearest neighbors in KNN algorithm could be narrowed. The experimental results show that the modified algorithm has faster computing speed on the basis of maintaining the previous performance, and do well in trademark recognition.

Abstract:Benefit from the lower cost and the easier installation, Intelligent Traffic system (ITS) based on high definition (HD) picture is increasingly used. In this paper, we describe a edge and color feature based method, which is able to locate and extract license plate from the high definition images in real-time. In the proposed algorithm, the edge feature is fully utilized to find the candidate region of the license plate (LP). And then, a edge identity similarity method is employed to adjust the position of each candidate, which can get the accurate LP position. Finally, an effective evaluation method is proposed to get the real LP from the candidate region. This thoroughly integrated system can obtain accurate localization of LP real-time in the HD traffic pictures under complicated background and changing illumination conditions. The experiment results indicate that the presented system is excellent in accuracy with a good speed.

Abstract:Image quality evaluation is to use some computational models to predict the quality of the specified image automatically and accurately. Since human eyes are ultimate receptor of images, it is better to mimic human visual system (HVS) to perceive the image quality. Based on the properties of the HVS, a novel bionic image quality metric (IQA) is proposed, which adopts several bionic characteristics, e.g. multi-channel decomposition, contrast sensitivity function, center-surround operation and lateral inhibition mechanism. Experimental results demonstrate that the performance of the proposed IQA method outperforms those of the existing methods.

Abstract:The ease with which we store and transmit images in modern-day application would be unthinkable without compression. Compressive Sensing can capture images and represent compressible signals at a significantly low rate, differently from the Shannon/Nyquist sampling theorem. Recent results in compressive sensing have shown that sparse signals can be recovered from a small number of random measurements by solving a convex programming problem. In this paper, two different algorithms (log-barrier method and multiplier method) are presented to solve the optimization problem via a series of Newton steps. Experimental results show the log-barrier method can achieve better performance than the multiplier method. Furthermore, the analysis of algorithms is provided to work out the back reason.
