Abstract:An optical burst switched ring network test-bed is presented in this paper. Advanced token protocol is adopted in the test-bed to guarantee packet-loss-free along the ring. Wavelength tunable receivers are employed to avoid collision in the destination. Through analyzing of experiment results, we can conclude that our OBS test-bed is prefer to transmit high-speed smaller data burst.

Abstract:A creative suit of hardware scheme that generates physical self-similar traffic is proposed for the first time. A novel optical Ethernet network analyzer is developed by using this scheme. The analyzer transmits self-similar traffic for networks with different Hurst parameter. The packet loss probability, delay and jitter performance can be measured by the analyzer. With two well-known and effective techniques to determine the presence and degree of self-similarity - Aggregated Variance method and R/S method, the statistical analysis of realistic streams generated by the analyzer is presented to verify the usability and reliability of the designed network analyzer

Abstract:A service-driven mechanism in IP over WDM is proposed. It adapt to the burst and randomicity characteristics of IP services. To meet different requirements, QoS of different levels and working modes is provided for users, with which network resources can be utilized more sufficiently .We established a principle experiment to demonstrate this mechanism. Due to the burst and random characteristics of IP services, the traffic flow over the allocated bandwidth is lost under the static resource configuration while the problem does not occur under the service-driven mechanism because new light path is applied and acquired to transport the extra services when the traffic flow exceeds the traffic threshold. We’ve tested packet loss rate of IP services running under the static resource configuration mode and the service-driven mode. From the result, we can see that the throughput of networks can be greatly improved with low packet loss rate by adopting service-driven mechanism

Abstract:As Internet traffic has been explosively grown in Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), traditional SONET/SDH networks needed to be reengineered to handle data traffic in a more efficient way. Recently, several new technologies have been proposed as a solution for that problem, such as next-generation SONET/SDH, RPR and OBS. However, which is the best choice? In this paper, we compare the performance of these technologies, such as the number of required wavelengths, bandwidth utilization, distribution of delay variation and packet loss rate, network throughput and so on, in a two-fiber ring network model which is the most familiar network architecture in MAN. The simulation results show that taking one with another, OBS is the best solution for the future MAN, though its packet loss rate is a little higher than the other two technologies.

Abstract:Intelligent Optimization Algorithm (IOA) mainly includes Immune Algorithm (IA) and Genetic Algorithm (GA). One of the most important characteristics of MRI is the complicated changes of gray level. Traditional filtering algorithms are not fit for MRI. Adaptive Template Filtering Method (ATFM) is an appropriate denoising method for MRI. However, selecting threshold for ATFM is a complicated problem which directly affects the denoising result. Threshold selection has been based on experience. Thus, it was lack of solid theoretical foundation. In this paper, 2 kinds of IOA are proposed for threshold optimization respectively. As our experiment demonstrates, they can effectively solve the problem of threshold selection and perfect ATFM. Through algorithm analysis, the performance of IA surpasses the performance of GA. As a new kind of IOA, IA exhibits its great potential in image processing.

Abstract:Parallel decoding of Turbo codes is vital to the applications with very high data rates. In the overlapping parallel decoding scheme, the decoding throughput can not increase linearly with the number of segments. A scheme where the throughput can increase linearly was proposed, where the boundary information of each iteration is stored to be the initial condition in next iteration. In this paper, we have simplified the scheme by only storing the index of the most probable state of the boundary. With the cost of some small performance loss, the scheme can reduce largely the extra memory required to store the boundary information.

Abstract:The message flow and message content of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)protocol, and applications of SIP protocol are studied in this paper. The analysis of Protocol Conformance Test described in this paper focuses on the techniques that currently are often used to design a manual test case. This technique is easy but it is necessary to describe the test way and results clearly in order to avoid wrong operations and fault results caused by the tester’s wrong comprehension. By studying SIP protocol and test techniques, 37 test cases are designed to test SIP terminals, which examines the accuracy of the message flow and message content of the terminals that support the basic speech service, insures the realization of the basic speech business from the protocol layer, and validating the correctness and reliability of the test cases.

Abstract:A novel 2×2 wavelength selective cross-connect (WSXC) module composed of a Bragg-grating-based Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI), a pair of optical waveguide, a pair of 1×2 optical switches (OSWs) and a pair of Y-model combiners is proposed. Multi-channel multi-wavelength selective cross-connect can be realized with the proposed 2×2 wavelength selective crossbar, together with multi-stage interconnection networks (MIN). A 2×2 four-wavelength WSXC is demonstrated by simulation to show its flexibility.

Abstract:Channel capacity has important role in the analysis and design of the communication systems. Unfortunately, for the commonly used one- or two-dimensional modulation constellations, there is no closed form formula to calculate such capacity. In this paper, some simple approximation formulas are presented for evaluating the symmetric capacity of the commonly used constellations under additive white Gaussian noise channel with perfect channel state information at receiver.
