Abstract:OpenAirInterface, or OAI, platform, which is an open-source software-based platform, was proposed to emulate a whole process of LTE system spanning full protocol stack of 3GPP standard. The platform--usually comprises of an OAI eNB, an OAI EPC and several OAI UEs--has great potential for operators to deploy new services/application in an ever-changing fast paced cellular networks, since it can significantly reduce CAPEX and OPEX. As a cost-effective means, it provides powerful support for the research of other related LTE technologies. In this article, state-of-the-art research on OAI platform are surveyed, and other technologies based on the platform, such as MIMO and C-RAN, are introduced. In particular, we discuss both of the software and hardware requirements when establish an OAI platform. As for each component of the whole network, we display how they configure and run under the Linux operating system. At the end of the article, we show three examples of application based on a testbed we design including two OAI UEs and an OAI eNB, from which the performance gain of LTE is well demonstrated.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a bidirectional two-way relaying selection network consisting of a source, a destination and multiply half-duplex decode-and-forward (DF) relays. Firstly, we consider three time slots transmission model. In the first slot, selected relay applies time-switching protocol to harvest radio frequency energy radiated by source and destination; in the remaining slots, selected relay cooperates source and destination for information exchange. Secondly, due to finite-size data buffer and finite-size battery of relay, we propose optimal relay selection and power allocation policy, under the delay-tolerant and delay-constraint constraints. Without considering the link outage, users can adaptively adjust transmission rate to maximize system sum-throughput. In addition, we analyze the effect of transmission time on sum-throughput. However, our sum-throughput optimization problem is a non-convex problem. Further, we relax relay selection coefficient and use Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions. The optimal power is obtained by Lagrange dual decomposition. Simulations can prove that sum-throughput of our proposed strategy is affected by buffer size and battery capacity, as well as time allocation of each transmission phase.

Abstract:We investigate the problem of cross-tier interference control in full-duplex (FD) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) based heterogeneous networks (HetNets) consisting of macrocell and underlaying femtocells. A price mechanism is introduced where the macro base station (MBS) and femtocell base stations (FBSs) all aim to maximize their own utility function considering finite interference constraint. We propose a triple optimization strategy of power control, subcarrier allocation and price regulation which can solve the cross-tier interference optimization problem of femtocell to macrocell. We analyze the superiority of the barrier method for the utility function of the macrocell, and to a certain extent, it has a better convergence. Through the experiment, we can see that the proposed the triple resource allocation algorithm can effectively suppress cross-tier interference and maximize the utility of macrocell and femtocells.

Abstract:This paper researched the problems of Visible Light Communication (VLC) in atmospheric channel. The ambience noise and channel attenuation in free-space VLC link was analysed. Based on theoretical analysis, we designed a new interconnected system for remote wireless local area networks (WLAN) through outdoor VLC links, including transceiver hardware circuit. The integrated circuit contains the data exchange circuit, LED driver circuit and photoelectric conversion circuit. The communication terminals in different networks using WIFI or 100Base-T Ethernet could access information of each other. The system could transmit a long distance without cable and the data rates is up to 100Mbps due to the fast Ethernet.

Abstract:WiFi Localization and Pedestrian Dead Reckoning(PDR) are attracting increasing attention due to its wide deployment and ubiquity on smartphones respectively. In this paper, we propose a fusion system based on Kalman Filter(KF) algorithm which combines a Single WiFi AP positioning system and PDR. Single WiFi AP positions depends on ToF calculation and AoA calculation which are breakthroughs in recent researches. PDR is variant of dead reckoning system which rely on inertial sensors on mobile phones. The fusion system makes best use of the advantages and bypass the disadvantages. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of the fusion system outperforms the two independent systems.

Abstract:This paper considers the security of transmission in buffer-aideddecode-and-forward underlay cognitive radio network, where aneavesdropper can intercept the data transmission from the source and relay nodes. In this paper, a new buffer-aidedrelay selection scheme is proposed to optimize the secrecy transmission, inwhich the interference introduced by primary transmitter andprimary receiver are considered. Moreover, finite size data buffersare assumed to be available at every relay to avoid selectingthe best source-to-relay and relay-to-destination links concurrently, and the secrecy outage probability in proposed schemeis derived. The proposed scheme is evaluated using simulationand theoretical results, which show that proposed scheme hasperformance advantage over the conventional unbuffered relayselection scheme.

Abstract:In wireless LANs (WLANs), heavy Channel State Information (CSI) feedback overhead has become a bottleneck in multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) transmission efficiency. Moreover, the current MAC protocol, like Quality of Service (QoS) based Transmission Opportunity (TXOP) Sharing, selects users without consideration of channel orthogonality which obviously influence the capacity of MU-MIMO. This results in bad user selection and excessive CSI feedback. This paper addresses these matters by proposing a cross-layer TXOP sharing mechanism, Group TXOP, which produces a Beamforming Group using a channel-based user selection mechanism and changes the TXOP holder from the Access Category (AC) to the Beamforming Group. Group TXOP takes advantage of channel orthogonality in selecting users and meanwhile amortizes the overhead to multiple frames by avoiding per-packet CSI feedback. The simulation results show that the relative overhead of CSI feedback reduces by 15% and the downlink throughput increases by 16% after using Group TXOP.

Abstract:With the internet of thing market growing rapidly, the low rate applications occupy most of the connections of IoT. However, existing network techniques can\'t match them very well. NB-IoT owning wide coverage, low power, low cost, large connection, stands out from many candidates for low rate applications. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of NB-IoT technology, this paper deeply studies the coverage of NB-IoT by combining the features of uplink (UP) / downlink (DL) frame structure, multiplexing method and scheduling unit used by narrowband IoT (NB-IoT). Firstly, the uplink and downlink rate ability were analyzed .Then, according to the rate requirement, the coverage capability, cell capacity and throughput were quantitatively analyzed and suggestions about the NB-IoT network planning were given.

Abstract:Kernel fuzzy C-means(KFCM) algorithm is proposed to manage fingerprint database (also known as radio map) collected from WiFi indoor positioning system. Clustering method greatly reduces the calculation load of position match process. By setting the cluster amount k before initialization, after constant iteration of cluster centers' renewal as well as membership' update until the objective function is minimized or reaches the preset conditions, the database is fuzzily divided into k clusters with k representative centers. With the purpose of obtaining superior clustering performance and better localization precision, this paper proposed several improvements. First, choose optimal interval of reference points(RP) and the amount of access point(AP) to build fingerprint database in order to enhance positioning precision; second, deduce an applicable cluster amount based on the structure characteristics of fingerprint database using sample density method; third, by approximating actual kernel matrix to a hypothetical ideal kernel matrix derives to a kernel parameter that is more appropriate for the radio map. Assessment criteria VXB is proposed to verify the effectiveness of kernel parameter's optimization based on Iris dataset. By means of the parameters adjustment above, the clustering result is more suitable for the selected datasets, and the last two improvements lead to 19.5% and 23.55% improvement in localization accuracy.

Abstract:Communication-based train control (CBTC) systems are automated train control systems using wireless communications. Data communication is extremely important in CBTC systems. Train ground communication system which includes too many interfaces between various subsystems and excessive ground equipment is used as traditional CBTC data communication system. In next generation CBTC systems, train-to-train communication is adopted with the advantages of higher-speed, larger-capacity per unit time and the briefer structure in comparison with traditional CBTC system. Although train-to-train communication based CBTC systems has been implemented in urban rail systems. The system availability has not been studied before. In this paper, deterministic and stochastic Petri nets(DSPN) is used for the CBTC system to characterize its normal operation probability. Several typical data communication scenarios are depicted and simulated with DSPN. The impact of different scenario parameters on CBTC system operation is discussed. The availability of the next generation CBTC system is compared with the traditional CBTC system as well.
