Abstract:In this paper, the space-time block coding (STBC) technique using the polarization-time diversity is proposed and demonstrated in coherent optical communication systems. The simulation result shows that the STBC technique is effective to compensate PMD without equalization.

Abstract:In this paper, the architecture for physical layer impairment aware GMPLS controlled network integrated of optical performance monitor (OPM), network management system (NMS) and path computing element (PCE) is demonstrated. We lucubrated path computation element (PCE) considering physical layer impairment, and prompt a solution of the interaction between PCE and NMS to create GMPLS light paths according to path computation result and realize the management layer and controll layer function. Design and Imlpementation of PCE based on the solution is completed. And we succefully verified light path computation considering physical impairments and wavelength continuity constrait by PCE.

Abstract:As the dynamic mapping is critical in IP-over-WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) network to ensure the restorability of IP layer, supplying survivability in network is of vital importance for dynamic traffic. However, the survivable mapping problem is complicated and difficulty in dynamic traffic scenario. Several factors can influence the performance of schemes for survivable mapping: The connectivity of topology; Amount of nodes in topology; Computing complexity and scalability of mapping algorithm. In this paper, we study the impact of light-path routing regarding network survivability and preserved capability. In IP-over-WDM network, light-paths are routed on physical topology so that a single fiber cut can cause multiple logical link failures. We propose a real-time survivable mapping algorithm in dynamic traffic scenario. Moreover, a new independent path sets calculation method is presented in order to support the proposed algorithm. At last, simulations are carried out to evaluate the efficiency and scalability of the proposed algorithm in terms of the resource utilization and blocking probability for single link failure. The results of simulations show that the proposed algorithm offers significant improvement of survivability for IP topology.

Abstract:With unprecedented increasing demands on bandwidth due to explosive growth of traffic in the Internet, wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) is proved to satisfy this increasing bandwidth demands in the Internet. Multicasting is becoming more and more popular and important in the Internet for applications such as video conferencing, video-on-demand services, HDTV, and so on. WDM technology and multicasting technology make the services to support large bandwidth demands be possible. so it is becoming a research hot point in resent years. This paper will mainly introduce the multicast in optical WDM network at first and then simulate the multicast performance with OWS and OBS technologies. At last, simulation result shows OBS network is better than OWS in terms of NEU, delay and loss rate/blocking under some conditions.
