Abstract:To date, a combined input and crosspoint queued (CICQ) switch has obtained increasing significant attention for its scalability and simple implementation on FPGA. As the promising next generation high speed packet switch, it is able to address the complex scheduling and high memory access speed problems which exist in other types of switches. However, when distributing packet buffers across crosspoints, it becomes difficult to balance the workload of different buffers, resulting in low memory space efficiency. In this article, we propose a new flow control mechanism to enhance the memory space efficiency, and carry out the performance comparison between such optimized CICQ switch and the one without adopting this mechanism

Abstract:In this paper ,under the condition of two assumptions, network topology is known and steady, link performance is temporally and spatially independent. We propose a method which is based on end-to-end measurement with low computation complexity to estimate network link delay. Firstly pseudo likelihood estimation (PLE) is used. Secondly, in the process of estimation we adopt a variable bin size discrete model which is composed with M fixed bin size models. This method reduces the computational complexity of estimating link delay distribution. Finally ns2 based simulation results verify the accuracy and the validity of this method.

Abstract:The cellular network energy needs urgently to be saved because the carbon emissions continue to increase. Therefore, many kinds of energy saving methods in bases are widely researched and designed. In this study, we propose a different kind of method to realize the energy saving in base stations. Three base station modes are defined: Normal Work Mode, Light Sleep Mode and Deep Sleep Mode. By conditionally switching among these modes according to the traffic load, base stations will fall asleep when it's necessary to save energy. State set is brought in to analyze the process of state transition. And we propose a novel way to evaluate the traffic load of the network. Moreover, a general method of optimizing all bases' modes is put forward and the energy-efficiency is considered in the optimizing process. The proposed sleep and wake-up mode have been validated by some simulations and experimental results under the LTE scenarios.

Abstract:Energy efficiency and network stability affects the application of WSNs, while routing plays a vital role in balancing energy consumption. At present Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) Protocol is a widely used solution. However, there exist problems on network lifetime and stability of LEACH. An improved Routing protocol based on LEACH is proposed to deal with that. Energy threshold is introduced in cluster head (CH) election and multi hop routing to base station (BS) is proposed in routing phase. Simulation proves that improved routing protocol effectively extend the lifetime and improve stability of network.

Abstract:In this paper, we present two timeslot allocation schemes for integrated TD-SCDMA/Ad Hoc network. The network integrating TD-SCDMA network proposed by China and Ad Hoc network is named as C3G-A network. Firstly, the architecture of C3G-A network is developed. Then two timeslot allocation schemes are presented and analyzed. One is centralized scheme and the other is distributed scheme. In centralized scheme, the data collection and calculation is done only at the base station. But in distributed scheme, the data collection and calculation is done at the base station and mobile stations. Simulation results show that the distributed timeslot allocation scheme can get better performance compared with centralized timeslot allocation scheme.

Abstract:Fission mode of information transmission in the Microblog network presents a challenge to the existing public opinion diffusion model. In order to depict the mechanism of the public opinion transmission in the Microblog network, this paper proposes a topic evolution model based on the complex networks and infectious disease dynamics theory. The model takes the directed scale-free network as the carrier, which synthetically considers the characteristics of topic propagation and its influence factors. In addition, the research performs simulation analysis, of which result mirrors the topic evolution process from common topic into hot topic, and verifies its validity.

Abstract:We develop a novel traffic scheduling algorithm based on a master-slave linecard (LC) configuration to improve the energy-efficiency of hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) networks. The algorithm forwards packets to the master or slave LC adaptively according to the traffic load, and toggles the LCs between working and sleeping modes for energy-saving. To optimize the algorithm's key parameters, we model the system using a twodimensional Markov process and derive the analytical expressions of several performance metrics, including average packet delay, LC switching frequency, and energy efficiency improvement. We then verify the theoretical analysis with numerical simulations using the Monte Carlo method. Both the theoretical and simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can achieve significant energy efficiency improvement, while keeping the average packet delay and LC switching frequency low.

Abstract:Hierarchical scheduling methods have been widely adopted to simplify system analysis and to ensure schedulability. Compositional scheduling analysis can simplify the set of virtual links in a hierarchical way and prevent traffic from interfering during transmission, but it needs to be modified to fit an AFDX network. In this paper, a VLPR model is established to meet the demand of compositional scheduling analysis. Then, scheduling algorithms are modified to be non-preemptive due to the virtual link constraints. Unlike traditional virtual links, ours can have reasonable allocation methods. Two different scheduling algorithms, RM and EDF, have been added to the analysis of the VLPR model. The compositional scheduling methods in AFDX virtual links and sub-virtual links are shown reachable through simulations to ensure virtual link isolation and avoid competition for resources.

Abstract:Routing and spectrum allocation is one of the most important problems in flexi-grid optical networks. Flexi-grid opticla network can improve the spectrum efficiency to a large extent compared with traditional fixed grid WDM optical networks. While the dynamic lightpath setup and teardown procedure will inevitably lead to traffic unbalancing which may block the new connections under the constraints of spectrum continuity and consecutiveness. Traffic balancing can distribute the services into the entire network, and then the probability of service collisions will be reduced. Simulation results indicate that RSA algorithm which consider the performance of traffic balancing is better than the one which only consider the performance of spectrum resource utilization.

Abstract:Considering the essential improtance of information technology in today's society, network survivability has been a major concern. While pre-provisoned protection strategies for single-link failure has been well studied in single domain networks, and efforts have been made to mitigate these shcemes to Multi-Domain networks, there are still many challenging problems. Diverse path pair computation and setup across domains is very complex and challenging due to the limited state information between domains. In this paper, a novel end-to-end diverse path pairs protection heuristic for Multi-Domain networks considering traffic engineering is proposed. It gives significantly lower routing overhead and complexitty. Integer Linear Programming(ILP) formulation aimming to minimize blocking rate in bandwidth routing optical network is proposed. Meanwhile, the proposed heuristic is evaluated using simulation and compared with both ILP solution and other shceme.
