Abstract:A subpixel unmixing algorithm, the constrained energy minimization (CEM) was used to detect significant alteration minerals from the ASTER surface reflectance image data covering the south Chocolate Mountains area, California, U.S.A. For visualization purposes, a GIS icon-based visualization technique was designed and implemented to co-visualize these four alteration minerals. The results illustrate that ASTER data is very valuable for mineral mapping due to the presence of the six SWIR bands. The icon-based co-visualization has advantages of visualizing multiple spatial data layers in a raster GIS model. This is helpful for the analysis of minerlaization processes. | |||
