Abstract:The electric field of transmission lines insulators is open field. Open field calculation must demarcate the border. It's a boundary value problem. The calculation accuracy of open field is in contradiction to computational complexity. According to symmetry property analysis the computational complexity can be reduced. The real and imaginary parts of three-phase voltage phasors have symmetry property respectively. Based on the symmetry property and symmetrical structure of three-phase electric power system, the electric field computation module could be reduced to only 1/4 of the general model, so the computational complexity could be reduced greatly. In order to analyze the electric field distribution along the insulators, the computation module included insulators, transmission lines, tower, floor, and 90m interspaces around the insulators. The numerical calculation method was FEM. The calculation results were consistent with the factual electric field distribution. The method could be used for modeling of other three-phase electric field. The advantage of the model was the computational complexity was lower than other FEM with truncation boundary conditions, but the calculation accuracy was equal. | |||
