Abstract:The removal of Cu(II), Pb(II) and Hg(II) ions from aqueous solution by gel beads containing hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) and chitosan components was investigated in competitive process. These gel beads exhibited a good performance for heavy metal removal. The removal order was Pb(II) > Cu(II) > Hg(II) when the concentration of each ion was equal. Moreover, the total metal uptake capacity in competitive process (2.04 mmol/g) is better than that in non-competitive process (Pb(II), 1.69 mmol/g). The effects of different experimental parameters, such as initial pH and temperature on the adsorption capacities were studied. Desorption study indicated that the gel beads were easy to be regenerated.

Abstract:Land resource is finite and precious in the development of society .Environment costs which contribute to human welfare, both directly and indirectly, are often neglected in the evaluation of land use. This paper ,from the view of the land use, presents a study of value assessment including both environmental costs and economic value. By multiplying a set of ecosystem services with a set of corresponding shadow prices which are based on published studies and a few original calculations, the current environment costs (EC) can be estimated. Also the economic value (EV) produced by land use is calculated in this paper. Then functions assessing the real value of land use can be obtained by considering the environment costs and economic value. Application of this study on a land use example is shown lately. At last, how to achieve the sustainable development with the finite land resource is discussed.

Abstract:A simple, rapid and sensitive method for simultaneous determination of six steroid sex hormones in urine matrix was developed by the combination of stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and diode array detection (DAD). A poly (methacrylic acid stearyl ester- ethylene dimethacrylate) was synthesized and selected as SBSE extraction medium. To achieve the optimum extraction performance, several parameters, including agitation speed, desorption solvent, extraction and desorption time, pH value, inorganic salt and organic solvent content of the sample matrix were investigated. Under the optimized experimental conditions, low detection limits (S/N = 3) and quantification limits (S/N = 10) of the proposed method for the target compounds were achieved within the range of 0.17-1.3 ng/mL and 0.5-4.0 ng/mL from spiked urine, respectively. The calibration curves of six steroid sex hormones showed good linearity ranging from quantification limits to 200 ng/mL with linear coefficient R2 values above 0.990. Good method reproducibilities presented as intra- and inter-day precisions were also found with the RSDs less than 9.2 and 10.0%, respectively. Finally, the proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of the target compounds in a urine sample from a pregnant woman.

Abstract: This paper focus on the adsorption of phosphorus onto blast furnace slags. Its equilibrium isotherm and kinetic model were investigated by using different models. The Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherms were applied to describe the experimental isotherm data and the results showed that the Langmuir isotherm was the best to characterize the phosphorus adsorption behavior on the blast furnace slags with the maximum adsorption capacity of 1341.6mg/kg. The kinetics studies at different initial phosphorus concentrations showed that greatest amount of phosphorus adsorption were completed during the first 10h. Although the process of phosphorus adsorption as a function of time can be suitably described by first-order and pseudo second-order kinetics, the pseudo second-order kinetics are proved to be the best with the similar qe with the experimental data.

Abstract:It is an undoubtedly fact that CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analytical software makes an eminent roll in the indoor thermal environmental design. However, from the viewpoint of convenient, efficiency, reliability, which are cared for building design, CFD platform for special large-scale building like subway station is needed. This article takes an effort in the foundation of CFD platform for the indoor thermal environmental design of subway station, named SIMU_DDCZRHJ, based on PHOENICS. One difficult problem be faced is the spatial entity’s restructuring. According to the spatial data’s analysis approach that is put forward by the author, the simplified spatial data model has been set up, which offers the preliminary basement for the spatial database to the CAD/CFD system for the subway station.
