Abstract:The chirality of amino acids plays important role in biological and medical sciences. The development of achiral small-molecule probes that can simultaneously determine the absolute configuration, enantiomeric excess, and total concentration of amino acids is significant. The current available achiral coumarin aldehyde probe that could form Schiff bases with free amino acids at room temperature to induce the CD signals and to change UV-vis signals. The red-shifted UV-vis signals were independent of the substrate\'s chirality and could be used to determine the total concentration. Conversely, the enantioselective CD signals could be used to determine the absolute configuration and enantiomeric excess. The usefulness and practicability of this sensing method were demonstrated by analyzing 6 non-racemic phenylalanine samples with different enantiomeric compositions and concentrations.

Abstract:The simpler, the better! A simple and highly luminescent phenolate anion of a salicylaldehyde molecule containing a very small pi-conjugated system of one benzene ring has been designed and prepared. The absorption and fluorescence properties of the salicylaldehyde molecule are highly dependent on the pH value of the solution, and thus it can be used in the detection of pH value and living cell imaging.

Abstract:In this article, we demonstrate the fabrication and simultaneous fluorescent detection of two biomarkers related to lung cancer. Polystyrene microspheres (PSM) were introduced as biomolecular immobilizing carriers and a 96-well filter plate was used as the separation platform. The whole experiment could be effectively carried out in a homogeneous system, as exemplified by the detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and neuron specific enolase (NSE). First, two capture antibodies for CEA and NSE were immobilized on the PSM surface. Next, they reacted successively with two antigens and two modified detection antibodies. Finally, these two biomarkers could be recognized by streptavidin-conjugated quantum dots (QD) and goat-anti-FITC conjugated QD with a detection limit of 0.625 ng/mL, which was lower than the clinical cut-off level. The protocol showed good precision within 6.36 % and good recovery in the range of 90.86-105.02 %. Compared with several other assay formats reported previously, our new technique is competitive or even better. Furthermore, the immunosensor was successfully illustrated in 20 serum samples. Overall, this new immunoassay offers a promising alternative for the detection of biomarkers related to cancer diseases, taking advantage of simplicity, specificity, sensitivity and cost-efficiency.

Abstract:Infrared spectra shows that the characteristic absorptions of 3,5-Dimethyladamantanamine hydrochloride are the overtones of NH3+ deformation vibrations at frequencies of 3171.9 cm-1, 2993.8 cm-1, and the overtones involving NH3+ deformation vibration in 2600-2000 cm-1 region. The NH3+asymmetry and symmetry deformation vibrations were found at 1596.2 and 1503.5 cm-1 with a medium intense. The 1311.6 cm-1 and 1192.2 cm-1 are attributed to rocking vibration and C-N bond stretching vibration respectively. The absorption in 2850-2950 cm-1 indicate the presence of CH3, CH2 and CH groups. The ESI mass spectrum only gives three peaks but shows essential information of molecular structure. The ]M+H] ion undergoes elimination of NH3, forming m/e 163. The m/e 107 peak is produced by a simple carbon-carbon fragmentation, followed by two-step six-numbered MaLafferty rearrangements with elimination of isobutene.
