Abstract:Faster-than-Nyquist(FTN) signaling by introducing controlled emph{inter-symbol interference} (ISI) has been viewed as a potential technique in the coming emph{fifth generation} (5G) systems due to its higher spectrum efficiency. In order to achieve the high transmission rate, the effective receivers have to been design to suppress the ISI and extract the transmit signals. Therefore, we propose a channel shortening-based emph{maximum-likelihood sequence equalization} (MLSE) scheme. In this scheme, the length of the shortening channel can be optimized for the different time-squeezing factor, which determines the transmission rate and ISI in FTN systems, to achieve a good tradeoff between the detection performance and the implementation complexity. The simulation analysis results show that the proposed MLSE equalizer with optimized channel shortening can achieve a good tradeoff between the performance and the complexity.

Abstract:In recent years, transportation system is developed rapidly, intelligent transportation system (ITS) becomes an important composition part of the transportation system. Vehicular network is a most significant and basic type in ITS, and host mobility management is key technology in vehicular network to maintain communication continuity. It is meaningful to make a research on the simulation of host mobility in vehicular network, since it is vital to guarantee seamless communication in the mobility process of vehicles. In this project, a research on existing papers of the host mobility management in vehicular network is made, and MIPv6 is chosen to be simulated. More specifically, NS2 and VanetMobiSim are ideal software in simulation process, and different scenes are designed to provide more actual traffic models. Based on existing protocols, a new scheme are put forward to optimize existing protocols. The main purpose of the improvement is to reduce the handoff delay when vehicles make a handoff between two base stations. The handoff delay parameter is compared between MIPv6 and improved scheme, which makes a verification of the optimization.?????

Abstract:As an effective solution for indoor coverage and service offloading from the conventional cellular networks, femtocells have attracted a lot of attention in recent years. This study investigates the resource block (RB) and power allocation in heterogeneous network. Specifically, the concern here is to maximize the signal-to-interference-plus- noise-ratio (SINR) of macrocell and energy efficiency of femtocell while providing the finite interference. In this paper, the system model is divided into two layers, in which the macro base station and clusters constitute the first layer network; femtocells in respective cluster make up the second layer network. Because of the different model structure, different game theory is used in different layer. Stackelberg Game is used in the first layer, and non-cooperation game is used in the second layer. The problem of resource allocation algorithm is formulated as a mixed integer programming problem. In order to minimize the complexity of the proposed algorithm, the resource allocation task is decomposed into two sub problems: RB allocation and then power allocation. The result is compared with the traditional methods, and the analysis illustrates the proposed algorithm has a better performance regarding SINR and energy efficiency for the heterogeneous network.

Abstract:In this paper, a new simple early stopping criterion (SC) is proposed to reduce the number of decoding iterations for low density parity check (LDPC) codes. This criterion is based on the variations of the number of unreliable variable nodes in the decoding iteration with low computational complexity. It can also dramatically reduce the number of hard decision for parity-check equations. Simulation shows that our proposed stopping criterion reduces the average number of iterations (ANI) and the average number of testing parity-check equations (ANT) greatly with negligible degradation in bit error rate (BER) performance over a wide signal-to-noise (SNR) region.

Abstract:The discrete fourier transform (DFT) is an important tool in digital signal processing. In this paper, a novel approach to DFT is proposed. The computation of DFT is transformed to the computation of the first-order moments by the simple mathematical deductions. It is well known that the first-order moments can be computed efficiently using only additions. An efficient systolic array is designed to implement DFT. The comparison with the existing methods shows the advantages of our method. The approach is also applicable to DFT inverses.

Abstract:The theory of carrier subtraction method for performances improvement of radio-over-fiber (RoF) link with fixed incident optical power on photodetector (PD) is precisely and completely demonstrated. An analytical model is proposed to quantify the improvement of link gain, noise figure (NF) and spur-free dynamic range (SFDR) with the change of carrier suppression ratio. The modulation index m for the validity of this carrier subtraction method is fully investigated. The optimum optical carrier-to-sideband ratio (CSR) for RoF link performances in both double-sideband and single-sideband modulation is obtained. The simulation results and experimental results are then presented, which have good agreement with each other. The experiment is realized through stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS), which has many advantages as a carrier filter, such as self-tuning, self-regulating and narrow gain spectrum.

Abstract:A dynamic frequency equalization method is essential for many radio-over-fiber (RoF) applications due to the time-varying physical surrounding around them. In this letter, a simple and easy-implemented scheme for dynamically equalizing the RoF link is proposed with the help of a tunable and reconfigurable microwave-photonic filter. A novel equipment of variable optical tilt filter (VOTF) made of transparent electro-optic ceramic material and controlled by electronic driving circuit is the key component in the filter to realize the dynamic frequency equalization. By feedback control, any expected frequency equalization can be realized with high speed. Both the experiments and results are presented in the letter, which verify the validity and flexibility of this method further.

Abstract:DFT-Spread OFDM (DFT-S OFDM), known as frequency-domain generation of the single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA), is an uplink transmission scheme of Evolved UTRA LTE. Our research mainly discusses the channel estimation of the DFT-Spread OFDM system based on different design of pilot signals, including FDM(Frequency Division Multiplexing) and CDM(Code Division Multiplexing) pilot multiplexing. Since the FDM method has been discussed elaborately in several contributions already and fully accepted, this paper focuses on the design of pilot employing CDM and corresponding channel estimation method.
