2-Alkyl-, 2-heterocyclic and 2-phenyl-nitronyl nitroxides were prepared. Their free radical property was confirmed by ESR spectra. The in vitro NO scavenging activity was evaluated by the aortic strip experiments. Among the investigation of three kinds of structural nitronyl nitroxides, the 2-phenylsubstituted nitronyl nitroxides are chemically stable and biologically potent.
