It is known that most organic fluorophores exhibit photo-bleaching properties. In contrast, a strong photoinduced fluorescence enhancement (PFE) behavior was observed on the thin film of CdSe nanoparticles (NPs). Taking advantage of the different photostabilities of organic fluorophore and CdSe NPs, several general methods for producing hierarchically patterning fluorescent films were proposed in this work. These methods were demonstrated on thin films consisting CdSe NPs on a green-emitting tris (8-hydroxyquinoline) Aluminum (Ⅲ) (Alq3)/ Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) film. Meanwhile, the possible mechanism of PFE behavior of CdSe on the Alq3/PVA film was discussed.
