On the basis of the principles of finite element method and infinite element method, the 3-dimensional finite element and infinite element coupling model is established to solve the dynamic responses of semi-infinite soil. In the method, the finite element model with eight-node hexahedron solid element is adopted in the nearer field, and while in the farther field three types of infinite elements are applied, including 3-dimensional monodirectional, bidirectional, and three-way mapping infinite element, in which different infinite element is coupled with finite element on different position of interface. In addition, shape functions of infinite elements are derived by means of their mapping functions. Moreover, the effectiveness of this method is validated by comparing calculated results and analytical solution under static loading. Finally, the dynamic responses of semi-infinite soil under moving constant load and moving harmonic load are caculated and it is found that acceleration increases with the increase of moving speed and loading frequency of load.
