A acid-controlable triplet photosensetizer (BR-1) enhanced with the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) effect was prepared. Rhodamine was used as an intramolecular energy donor as well as acid-controlable unit, and iodo-styryl-Bodipy was used as an intramolecular energy acceptor/spin converter. The intramolecular energy transfer from open-formed Rhodamine unit to iodo-styryl-Bodipy unit was studied upon the addition of acid (trifluoroacetic acid, TFA) at different time. The fluorescence quenching and excitation spectra indicated that the FRET efficiency is significantly enhanced from 0.0% to 56.1%. Our results are useful to design the triplet photosensitizers with controlable triplet state property .
