The functions of IgG mainly rely on the interactions of its Fc region with other proteins. 31 patients with stage IIIB and IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) were enrolled in this study. The levels of IgG1 Fc N-glycosylation in a series of serum samples from 31 NSCLC patients treated with icotinib hydrochloride were determined by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (MALDI-FTICR MS). Our findings suggest that IgG1 Fc-galactosylation and Fc-agalactosylation levels of NSCLC patients changed with treatment time and gender was associated with changes in the IgG1 Fc- galactosylation and Fc-agalactosylation levels. Gender-specific changes in IgG1 Fc-galactosylation and Fc-agalactosylation may helpful in understanding the mechanism of EGFR drug action.
