The conventional U-shaped impact type vibration energy harvester (ITVEH), which was proposed by our group, has the capability to convert a low-frequency environmental vibration into a high-frequency structural resonance. This feature can be used to enhance the vibration energy harvesting efficiency. In this work, to increase the electric output power of the conventioanl ITVEH under the same vibration excitation conditions, we proposed and fabricated an ITVEH with a Y-shaped frame, and measured its electric output power. Our experiments show that the electric output power of the ITVEH with a Y-shaped frame is two times of that of the ITVEH with a U-shaped frame.
