Since its advantages of the straight passageway and large mass-flow ratio, the straight flow turbine has become an important type in the development of low-head hydraulic resource. However, due to the special configuration of its runner, that the runner rim rotating follows the blades, high demands is required on its runner rim seal performance. Rim seal defects restricted the application and development of the straight flow turbine for many years. By redesigning a hole-shape rim seal using the commercial CFD software, this paper discussing the influence of different hole-shape parameters on the rim seal performance by an orthogonal experiment. Through the analysis, the hole-shape rim seal reduce 20% leakage compared with using the plate clearance seal. ?????
