A new diphosphine gold (I) complex [Au2(Ph2PCH2CH2CH2PPh2)(CHCPhOMe)2] (compound 1) containing organophosphine and alkyne ligands has been designed and synthesized. The Au(I) ion is coordinated by P atom from 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphanyl)propane and alkynyl from 1-ethynyl-4-methoxybenzene. The molecular structure of compound 1 has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with lattice contents a=26.5021(5), b=6.83920(10), c=22.6226(5) Å, α=90.00°, β=98.026(2)°, γ=90.00°, V=4060.25(13) Å3, and Z=4. The final R=0.0282 and wR=0.0568 for 3059 observed reflections with I>2σ(I). The most interesting structural feature of compound 1 is the presence of C-H⋅⋅⋅Au interactions involving Au ions in chain motifs, with H⋅⋅⋅Au distance of 3.233 Ǻ, and C-H⋅⋅⋅Au bond angle of 168.2°.
