The Charpy v notch (CVN) impact properties of two kinds of high-nitrogen austenitic stainless steels (HNASS) Fe24Mn13Cr1Ni0.44N and Fe24Mn18Cr3Ni0.62N were studied at different temperatures. Results show that with the increase of nitrogen content, the ductile property of HNASSs decreases rapidly; microstructures, such as peeled off layer and transgranular brittle fracture facet (TBFF) are features of brittle fracture of HNASSs when impacted at 83K. The transformation mode of fracture microstructures of them with the descending temperatures was also proposed.
Keywords:Austenitic stainless steel; Nitrogen; Impact fracture; SEM
