The main characteristics of GIS, general procedures of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis and the method to realize them on MapGIS are described. A computerized application on an engineering site in the Three Gorges Dam District is presented. The graphical user interface introduced by GIS enables to handle PSHA software routines and data in a more intuitive way. Moreover, it improves the user’s capacity of cognizing the complex PSHA processing, and helps user to explore the knowledge of PSHA from geo-data.
