Citation: Sun Changqing.Impact of surface-bond-order-loss on the phonon dispersion relations and the thermal conductivity of cylindrical silicon nanowires[OL]. [18 April 2006] http://en.paper.edu.cn/en_releasepaper/content/6292
The effect of bond-order losses due to the surface on the thermal conductivity of cylindrical silicon nanowires has been examined using the isotropic elastic continuum models. A core-shell structure with a modified Young’s modulus in the outermost shell is employed to calculate the thermal conductivity based on the modified phonon dispersion relations. It is shown that the torsional and longitudinal mode of phonon vibration and the thermal conductivity increase significantly due to the effect of surface-bond-order loss.
