Ageing diseases of existing reinforced concrete structures often result in the degradation of bearing capacity and rigidity. It is necessary to evaluate the current quality of the R.C. structures objectively. In the present paper, a variable weight model is presented for comprehensive quality evaluation of existing reinforced concrete members. Using attribute identification theory, weights are given according to the contribution rate of every evaluation factor to the quality of members. According to the given degree of confidence, comprehensive quality evaluation of members is carried out and the characteristic state of the quality of members is determined. Based on the method, the members can be sorted into several evaluation classes. And to the same class, further subdivision can be carried out by comprehensive scores. An engineering example shows that this method is feasible to solve the problem of quality evaluation for ageing reinforced concrete members.
