With the antiserum for extracellular products (hemolysin and protease) of virulent strain of Aeromonas hydrophila J-1 from rabbits, the Dot-ELISA was developed for the detection of virulent factors of Aeromonas spp.. The sensitivity of the method was high, with a detection limit of 78ng/ml ECPs, All the Aeromonas species detected were positive and no cross-reaction with Edwardsiella tarda, Vibrio anguilarum, Yersinia ruckeri , Edwardsiella tarda, which often infect fishes. Only slightly cross-reaction with Escherichia coli, The agreement between Dot-ELISA and normal detection of ECPs in the standard strains(n=23) and samples (n=120) were 73.9% and 87.2%. The whole reaction can be finished within 24 hours. It can be considered as a useful method for rapid diagnosis of virulent factors of these harmful bacteria.
