We present a numerical investigation of the pump to signal relative intensity noise (RIN) transfer characteristics both in the single-pump and dual-pump parametric amplifier inside silicon waveguides in the presence of nonlinear losses. Moreover, the influences of the related parameters in SOPA on the gain and the pump-to-signal RIN transfer characteristics are also discussed. As a result, appropriate free-carrier lifetime and high-power pump sources with low RIN value are required for a low-noise SOPA.
Keywords:Optical Engineering; SOPA; relative intensity noise (RIN); nonlinear losses; noise figure
