Time reversal techniques and its applications in acoustics and electromagnetics are reviewed in this paper. First, Brief descriptions of time reversal process and time reversal imaging are given. Then, under the distorted wave Born approximation (DWBA) and multi-scattering cases, time reversal imaging techniques based on time reversal operator-decomposition of the time reversal operator (DORT under its French language acronym) and time reversal multiple signal classification (TR-MUSIC) are discussed in detail. The progress of time reversal imaging method is retrospected and a conclusion and some advice are given at last.
