A cost-effective and reliable optical pulse compression scheme was proposed and demonstrated experimentally. The proposed scheme is capable for single and multiple wavelength operation. The working bandwidth for the fixed device parameters was analyzed, and a range as large as 70 nm was achieved with good performance. A 0.98 ps ultra-short pulse for one channel and simultaneous 2.8,2.9,2.6 and 2 ps for 4-channels were obtained respectively. The high quality pulses were quite stable and no pedestal was observed. Further compression can be expected by adjusting the parameters.
