A novel dual-band bandpass filter is proposed with metamaterial-inspired transmission line structure. The filter is composed of one outer square closed-ring resonator (SCRR) and two inner electric-LC (ELC) resonators developed on conductor-backed coplanar waveguide (CBCPW). Through full-wave electromagnetic simulations based on finite-element method, it is shown that both passbands can be individually contorted by tuning the structural parameters of the composite metamaterial resonators. The complex dispersion relations are derived from the scattering parameters to better understand the mechanism. Two passbands of the filter are centered at 8.76 GHz and 11.04 GHz, with 3-dB bandwidths of 130 MHz and 290 MHz, respectively. The simulated and measured results are in good agreement.
