In this paper, we numerically investigate the propagation of vector elliptical vortex beams in turbulent atmosphere. Numerical simulations are realized with random phase screen. It is shown that the on-axis scintillation index can be effectively influenced by the properties of elliptical vortex beam and the turbulence of atmosphere. We find that the topological charge ,the beam width and the ratio of minor axis to major axis of an ellptical vortex beam are definitely important in determing the scintillation index. We also investigate the intensity of elliptical vortex beams when propagating in turbulent atmosphere. The result shows that the distribution of intensity and phase can rotate, which criticaly depended on the properties of elliptical beams.
