Nano-sheet polypyrrole/reduced graphene oxide (PPy/RGO) composites were prepared by in situ polymerization of the pyrrole monomer in the RGO uniform suspension. A homogeneous dispersion of individual graphene sheets coated by the PPy matrix was achieved. PPy and RGO formed a nano-sheets structure composite. Such nano-sheeets structure and the observed high electrical conductivities afforded high specific capacitance, good rate performance and cyclic stability. A high specific capacitance of 255.7 F g-1 was achieved for PPy/RGO-10. Furthermore, The PPy/RGO-10 electrodes have good cycle stability and show less than 8.5% specific capacitance decay at a charge/discharge current density of 2 A g-1 within an electrochemical window of 0.9 V after 2000 cycles.
