In this letter, we experimentally demonstrate the polarization-driven internal modulation of the forward-pumped random fiber laser (RFL). The output power of the random lasing is found to be sensitive to the state of polarization (SOP) of the Stokes light in the loop mirror. By inserting the polarization switch (PSW) driven by the TTL signal in the loop mirror, the SOP of the Stokes light can be switched between two states, thus the lasing output can be modulated as the pulsed signal with high extinction ratio.
Keywords:random laser, Raman laser, random distributed feedback laser
