Cu-ZnO nanocomposites were successfully prepared by a facile and reliable one-pot synthetic approach, by using copper sulfate (CuSO4 5H2O), hydrazine hydrate (N2H4 H2O, 80%), and zinc acetate (Zn(CH3COO)2 2H2O) as starting materials. Octahedral Cu nanostructures formed first with size of 400-500 nm, and ZnO nanocrystals were subsequently deposited in the mother liquid of Cu nanocages to obtain Cu-ZnO nanocomposites. The dye absorption properties of Cu-ZnO nanocomposites were studied using methyl orange as target. Comparing to the pure Cu nanocages and pure ZnO nanocrystals, the Cu-ZnO nanocomposites showed enhanced adsorption performances.
Keywords:Cu-ZnO nanocomposites; characterization; methyl orange; adsorption
