In the present work, the contributions of heavy gaugeboson $W^prime$ in non-universal and un-unified $221$ models to theradiative leptonic decays of charged $B$ and $D$ mesons are studied with the constraints on modelparameters from the latest experimental data considered. It is found that thecorrections of $W^prime$ in the non-universal $221$ model to thedecays $B^- ightarrow gamma mu^- ar{ u}_mu$ and $B^- ightarrow gamma au^- ar{ u}_ au$ can reach to about$8 %$ in the up-quark mixing scenario, which may be tested by moreprecise experiments such as LHCb, BelleII in the future. Incontrast, the corrections of $W^prime$ in the un-unified $221$model to the radiative leptonic decays of charged $B$ and $D$ mesonsare very tiny.
