In this paper, the adsorption of uranium by graphene oxide was investigated. The effect of pH, contact time, concentration of uranium and temperature on the adsorption capacity of uranium was determined. The graphene oxide (GO) was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and infrared spectra (FTIR). FTIR spectra indicated that carboxyl and alkoxy groups existed on the surface of GO, which involved in uranium adsorption. The adsorption kinetics of U(VI) followed pseudo first-order kinetic model. The adsorption isotherm conformed to Tempkin model. The adsorption process is spontaneous and exothermic. |
