In this paper, we introduce a novel optical encryption and decryption method of the gray image based on the computer-generated hologram (CGH) and two-dimensional (2D) Sine Logistic Modulation Maps (SLMM). The 2D SLMM is highly sensitive to its parameters and initial values and owns larger security space than existing chaotic maps. Since using chaotic maps or the CGH alone achieves low security, we combine both of them together. In the encryption process, the hologram is gotten by Fresnel diffraction, and is logically modulated with 2D-SLMM. This logical modulation we proposed can avoid the complex algorithm. The decryption process is an inverse of encryption. Simulation results and the security analysis verified that the new approach outperforms the other conventional methods. It has higher security level, as a result of the advantages of 2D-SLMM, and resistances to various attacks.
Keywords:Optical encryption; Computer-generated hologram; Chaos theory; Digital logical modulation.
