The self-organization on silica slide of citrate-capped Au nanoparticles driven by solvent evaporation was carried out under an alternating magnetic field. It was found that Au nanoparticles nearly uniformly dispersed on the substrate with a generalized “phase transition”, rather than 2D or 3D aggregation observed in previous experiments, which was correlative with field parameters. The mechanism was proposed based on the combination of capillary force and electrowetting induced by alternating magnetic field.
