In this paper, we firstly discuss hierarchical routing protocols designed for (Mobile Ad Hoc Network) MANET by listing the classification of the routing protocols and then comparing their various characteristics. Next, we discuss current hierarchical protocols and compare those protocols. We analyze challenges in future routing protocol designs and gives the conclusions of this paper.
