The compound zirconyl β-naphthalene sulfonate (ZrO(β-NS)2•H2O) with layered structure has been synthesized in solution phase. X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), TG-DSC, FT-IR, elemental analysis (EA), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) was respectively used for structure characterization of the compound ZrO(β-NS)2•H2O. The XRD patterns were composed of a series of low-angle peaks, corresponding to the (00k) reflections of a layered structure. The basic layer plane was believed to be made up of Zr-O-S. Also β-naphthalene sulfonic group and hydrated water were thought suspended between the planes of zirconium ions. The cyclic voltammetry behaviors of the ZrO(β-NS)2•H2O on Au electrode showed a typical reversible process. Moreover, the strong fluorescent property of the ZrO(β-NS)2•H2O was measured. The maximum emission peaks occurred at ca. 386 nm upon excitation at ca. 291 nm. |
